Toyota Goes Back to the Future with Custom Tacoma

Toyota is celebrating the famous date from Back to the Future.

For fans of the movie series, October 21, 2015 isn’t just any ordinary date. It’s the day that was “the future” and Toyota is celebrating it by re-creating Marty McFly’s dream truck using an all-new 2016 Toyota Tacoma. Sure, we’d all be a lot happier if Toyota celebrated by announcing that the Lexus hoverboard will be mass produced and sold at a discount, but this will have to do.

In the first film, Marty McFly dreams of owning a new black Toyota Hilux pickup, which was sold in the U.S. from 1972 to 1995 before the Tacoma took its place.

Along with promoting the custom 2016 Toyota Tacoma, Toyota is also pushing the new Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, noting that the future is now. The Japanese automaker is also displaying the custom Tacomas at Hollywood & Highland in Southern California and Times Square in New York City. Various locations throughout Dallas, Texas will also get to see a Tacoma truck on an actual flatbed truck, similar to what’s in the movie.
