The second-generation BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo has been spied testing.
Set to debut late next year, the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo looks to forgo its chunky body for something more sleek. The German automaker is hoping to make the 5 Series Gran Turismo sportier with its updated styling, which looks like a blend between the 3 Series Gran Turismo and 4 Series Gran Coupe models. Expect the overgrown sedan to shed some pounds as well, making it more agile and fun to drive while improving fuel economy.
It’s unclear what BMW will outfit the 5 Series Gran Turismo with in terms of engine offerings, but expect a wide variety including standard gasoline and diesel mills as well as hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. Look towards the current 5 Series lineup to get an idea of what BMW can use on the Gran Turismo, including a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six, 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and a 3.0-liter diesel.
Expect more information on the next-generation 5 Series Gran Turismo next year as we get closer to its official debut.
