AutoGuide Now For the Week of Dec 8

The year isn’t over yet and we’re still out testing the latest and greatest cars. Check out what we have coming up this week.

Mike Schlee, Road Test Editor: 2016 Subaru Crosstrek vs 2016 Jeep Renegade

“This week we are comparing the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek against the 2016 Jeep Renegade. Why? Well I’m glad you asked! These are two smaller crossovers designed to head off-road as much as stay on it. So naturally our comparison will include on-road segments and of course fun in the mud.”

Jodi Lai, Managing Editor: Audi Q7

“I’ll be in Napa, California next week testing out the new 2017 Audi Q7 for the first time. This is bound to be the most technologically advanced Q7 ever, but will the drive and tech be good enough to overcome its decidedly bland styling? Full sized luxury SUVs are still a strong segment, so Audi needs another winner in its lineup. Audi says the Q7 is completely new, and is more than 700 pounds lighter than the one it replaces. There will also be three powertrains available, but I think I will be driving the 3.0-liter gas V6 with 333 hp. Stay tuned for my full review and follow me on twitter @DrivingMissJodi for photos and live updates.”

Craig Cole, Associate Editor: Jaguar XE, Audi A6

“This week I’m evaluating the 2016 Audi A6, which is powered by the VW empire’s ubiquitous 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This may sound a little small for such a hefty car but it moves with surprising authority. Stay tuned for a full review in the coming days. Then, later in the week, I head off to Sedona, Arizona to evaluate the new Jaguar XE and some Range Rover diesels. Overall, this should be an entertaining time.”

Colum Wood, Editor in Chief: Toyota Land Cruiser

Colum is off to the land down under to try out the newest iteration of Toyota’s all-conquering SUV, the Land Cruiser. Now entering its 65th year on the market, the Land Cruiser is a rugged icon of Toyota’s off-road offerings. We can’t wait to hear more from Colum about his experience in the outback with this bad ass truck.

2015 Jeep® Renegade Trailhawk

Stephen Elmer, News Editor: Jeep Renegade Trailhawk

“This week, I’m driving the Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. The big question with this compact crossover is does it really deserve the trail rated badge? Sure it had quirky design and a fun interior, but can it really hack it when the pavement ends? Mike and I are comparing our cars this week, and we intend to take them both off road and find out which is the best.””
