The next-generation BMW X3 is taking shape.
AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers have once again caught the next-generation crossover testing, this time in the icy cold of Sweden. Compared to earlier mules, the latest prototype reveals new details including parts of the front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper. The front grille has also grown wider and we get a better idea of the real shape for the headlights. The tail lights are still fake but we do get a look at the new roof spoiler for the BMW X3.

Expected to ride on the German automaker’s upcoming CLAR platform, the next-generation X3 will shed some weight – up to 220 pounds. The platform will also underpin the 3 Series and other models in BMW’s lineup.
Like the current BMW X3, it will utilize a wide range of standard gasoline and diesel engines as well as getting a plug-in hybrid variant. This time around, BMW will also inject some serious performance into the model by offering an X3 M variant.
