A new startup automaker from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is planning some pretty wild looking off-road machines.
Zarooq Motors has released a set of images and some general details about its first vehicle, the Sand Racer. It was designed by Anthony Jannarelly, the same man that penned the Lykan Hypersport.
Powering the Sand Racer will be a 3.5-liter V6 that can put out anything between 300 and 500 horsepower. The motor’s origins were not discussed by Farooq. That power will be sent through a six-speed sequential gearbox to the rear wheels.
The company claims that the Sand Racer will have 17-inches of suspension travel and will be fully street legal in UAE, though that doesn’t mean it will be ready for North American or European roads. Farooq did say that is plant to export this vehicle to other market, without specifying which ones.
Starting price for the Sand Racer is pegged around $100,00, with deliveries said to start sometime in 2016. A one make racing league is also being planned by the company, to help draw interest to its new off-road racer. Eventually, Farooq wants the Sand Racer to grow into a lineup of high-power off roaders, including a long wheelbase version with four seats and an electric variant.
