Are hatchbacks a dying breed? Chevrolet doesn’t think so.
It might not be a hot hatch like the Ford Focus RS, but the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback is an attractive option if you’re looking for something more practical. Built on the same 106.3-inch wheelbase as the standard Cruze, the hatchback variant boasts 22.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat, while dropping those will open it up to 42 cubic feet. Under the hood is a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
