The 2016 motorsport season is upon us and the 2016 Rolex 24 at Daytona is a must-watch.
You can catch all of the auction from this year’s Rolex 24 at Daytona by heading over to IMSA.tv starting January 30 at 02:40 PM Eastern / 11:40 AM Pacific. As the opening race for both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup, the Rolex 24 at Daytona will also see the first time Lamborghini lines up at the grid in the world-famous race.
Russian IndyCar driver Mikhail Aleshin captured the Prototype class TOTAL Pole Award for the 54th annual event, turning in a lap of 2:05.793 despite wet conditions in the number-37 BR01 fielded by SMP Racing from Russia. This is the first time the prototype is racing in North America.
Capturing the GT Le Mans pole for the race was Nick Tandy in the number-911 Porsche 911 RSR with a time of 2:01.408. Not far behind was Frédéric Makowiecki who qualified second in GTLM, tuning in a time of 2:02.364 in the number-912 Porsche 911 RSR. In third was John Edwards in the number-100 BMW Team RLL IHG Rewards Club M6 GTLM with a time of 2:02.497.
