Mazda RX-Vision Named Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year

Mazda RX-Vision Named Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year

The Mazda RX-Vision concept has been awarded Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year at the 31st Festival Automobile International.

Making its debut at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, the RX-Vision concept previews the Japanese automaker’s rotary revival as well as the RX nameplate. Boasting smooth-flowing proportions that pay tribute to Mazda’s rich heritage of front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports cars, the RX-Vision concept was also one of‘s favorites for the year.

This is the latest award for Mazda’s global design division, which also took home three awards in September at the Automotive Brand Contest 2015 including the prestigious Team of the Year award.

They’re all great looking cars, too hard for me to choose a winner.

I am a huge Porche fan, so I’m a little disappointed to be saying this, but I’m not digging the Mission E. The headlights are decidedly un-Porche. Which might be fine if they broke new ground elsewhere in the design. However, in this instance, the traditional flowing lines of a Porsche combined with those headlights is quite jarring.

The Peugeot is neat in a futuristic sci-fi kind of way, but it’s a little busy for my tastes.

The car that really surprises me here is there’s Bentley. I’m not a fan of the brand, but that thing looks great! Best of all it looks ready to roll straight off the production lines and into show rooms. Unlike the RX-Vision, I don’t see much there that they would have to change in order to make it a realistic consumer product (other than door handles!)

All that being said, I 100% agree with the RX Vision as winner. I hope this goes into production asap and that it remains faithful to the concept. Mazda has arguably been better than any other automaker in recent years in this regard (compare the Takeri to the Mazda6 for instance), so I have high hopes. Obviously the hood will have to be shortened (which I think would actuality help proportions), the wheels will shrink, and the roofline will rise, but this has the makings of one sexy beast! I especially love the way the rear spoiler seems to float in front of the tail lights.

Awsome!!…Can’t decide if 1 and 2 should be flip flopped

A new RX? I just fired my load in my pants. I hope they bring back the Rotary engine, so frickin sexy. Of course if it’s built like that the vast majority of people will never be able to afford to buy one, even used.

Nice job by Mazda! At first when I saw the RX-Vision’s long sloping hood, I thought “multi-rotor Wankel engine!” like 3 or 4 rotors, which would be awesome! However, I feel like an RX-9 won’t look exactly like or close to this concept, but as long as it has the Wankel rotary, I won’t complain over looks. I just hope the SkyActiv-R can live up to its improvement promise that the Renesis tried to do
