A teaser photo for Fast 8, the next movie in the Fast & Furious franchise has been released.
Actor Vin Diesel posted the photo seen above on his personal Instagram account, confirming that the film will launch in April of 2017 and be titled Fast 8. Based on the photo, it is also likely to be set in New York City, the location where the original film was supposed to take place, before switching to Los Angeles.
Actor Dwayne Johnson is on record saying that he will be returning in Fast 8, while other faces in the movie are rumored to include those of Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson. The film’s director will be F. Gary Gray, whose previous movies include The Italian Job and Straight Outta Compton.

The previous movie in the franchise, Furious 7, became the fastest movie to ever gross $1 billion worldwide, making the money in just 17 days. Furious 7 was also a tribute to the late Paul Walker, a factor that seems to have helped it succeed at the box office. Cody Walker, Paul’s younger brother, appeared in the movie to complete some scenes and is rumored to also star in Fast 8.
Fast 8 is the first movie in a new trilogy that will close out the Fast and Furious franchise.
