Comedian and well-known car lover Jerry Seinfeld is selling three of his classic Porsches at an upcoming auction.
The classic Porsches will be on the block at the Gooding and Company auction at Amelia Island, Florida, on March 11 and includes a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder that is estimated to fetch between $5 million and $6 million. Then there’s the 1958 Porsche 356 A Carrera Speedster, a factory-prepped race car that is estimated to sell for $2 million to $2.5 million. Featuring lightweight Reutter Karosserie aluminum panels, the Auratium Green Porsche also has a larger fuel tank, bigger brakes and a roll bar.
If the 1950’s Porsches don’t appeal to you, maybe Seinfeld’s ex-Peter Revson 1974 Porsche 911 3.0 IROC RSR interests you. It is just one of 15 imported by Roger Penske for the International Race of Champions series and is estimated to go for $1.2 million to $1.5 million.
In a statement released by Seinfeld himself, he acknowledges that he still loves the cars but believes “it’s time to send some of them back into the world, for someone else to enjoy, as I have.” To put it nicely, he simply doesn’t have enough time to drive all the cars he has in his collection. What a shame.
