Toyota is celebrating the Corolla’s 50th anniversary in style.
The Japanese automaker kicked off the Corolla 50th Anniversary campaign, a year-long celebration to showcase how the Corolla has powered more memories, milestones and moments than any car in the world. To help with the campaign are actresses Gina Rodriguez and Hannah Simone as well as the 50th Anniversary Special Edition Corolla with unique features. As the world’s best-selling car of all time, the Toyota Corolla also received a refresh for the 2017 model year.
Standard features on the refreshed 2017 Toyota Corolla include backup camera, bi-LED headlights on L and LE grades, complex-LED standard on SE, XSE and XLE models as well as a redesigned, upgraded interior that has audio enhancements focused on comfort and convenience. The more aggressive front grille and two new exterior colors give the Corolla a modern look. All models can also be had with Toyota Safety Sense-P, a suite of safety technologies like pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure warning with steering assist and automatic high beams.

Those who really want to celebrate the Corolla’s birthday can opt for the Toyota Corolla 50th Anniversary Special Edition. Based on the 2017 Toyota Corolla SE, the special edition package will be limited to 8,000 units in the U.S. The model includes 17-inch alloy wheels with dark gray inserts and machine finish, seven-inch touchscreen, Entune Audio Plus with Connected Navigation, 4.2-inch color TFT multi-information display, smart key system with push button start, complex-LED headlights, black mixed media seats with Black Cherry contrast stitching, Black Cherry accented dash panel and door trim, 50th Anniversary Edition floor mats and 50th Anniversary Edition exterior badge. Buyers can also opt for an available moonroof.
The 2017 Toyota Corolla 50th Anniversary Special Edition will head to dealerships this fall and will be available in Black Cherry, Classic Silver and Blizzard Pearl exterior colors. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
