Cadillac is considering adding a turbocharged 2.0-liter to its new XT5 crossover in the U.S.
As of now, the XT5 will only be available with a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 310 horsepower, though a 2.0T model with 258 hp will be available initially only in China.
“I actually think we would do well to consider that for the U.S.,” said Cadillac Boss Johan de Nysschen said to Automotive News. He said that the possibility of the 2.0T in the US is certainly there, but no timeline was offered.

Some of the XT5’s competitors already offers small turbocharged engines, making it more likely that Cadillac will pull the trigger on this model. The Audi Q5 is also sold with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder while the the Lincoln MKX has a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6.
The 2017 Cadillac XT5 will arrive in Cadillac showrooms in April of 2016.
