The Nurburgring is back to full speed.
Last March, an accident killed a bystander at the world-famous track, causing the Nurburgring to impose speed restrictions on sections of the course. As a result, automakers could no longer chase Nurburgring records and the move proved controversial as automotive enthusiasts felt it defeated the purpose of the track. As expected, the speed restrictions have now been lifted so race teams and automakers worldwide can once again chase after those records.
While the speed limits were imposed, the Nurburgring repaved sections of the track and added protective fences to help make it safer. That means the first race of the season will be held without limits this weekend.
