Surprise! The Buick Avista Isn’t as Dead as You’ve Heard

4

Reports of the Buick Avista’s demise might have been premature.

Recently, Buick vice-president Tony DiSalle said that the Avista “was purely a concept and meant to generate some buzz,” and that there were no plans to produce it. One of our enthusiast forums, GM Inside News, caught up with Buick PR manager Stuart Fowle, who confirmed the Avista’s fate hasn’t been decided yet. That doesn’t necessarily mean the concept will be produced, but it also means that it’s not entirely dead in the water just yet.

The Buick Avista concept is on display at the 2016 New York Auto Show, finished in red, meaning it’s a different vehicle than the one that debuted at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The company built two prototypes to campaign around the world, and the blue version is currently in China.

Considering the efforts it is making to gauge interest around the world, don’t count the Avista out just yet.

If they put a Buick badge on it hopefully will be no more than $5K over the Chevy Impala, which looks pretty good too. Great cars from GM are going to be hitting the road. Great looking trucks coming from Dodge. Even in my late 6th decade I love the look & stance of what’s being made. Of course only about 60% of millenials have drivers licenses. GM & Dodge better sell them while they can

  • “What? What’s that? You really want this car? Ohhhhhh, all right, I guess you got us! We’ll take a look at building it…” *wink*

  • johnls39 .

The car has the same concept-like grill on the Cadillac Elmiraj which I did not paid attention at first.

It looks like what Hyundai should be producing as the next iteration of the Genesis Coupe. Hahaha. So similar, beautiful car though! I’d buy it for sure.
