You can reserve your own Tesla Model 3 right now, though there is some waiting to be done before you’ll see the car.
Reservations can be made in person at a Tesla store or online at the Tesla website. Each customer wishing to reserve a car will have to put down $1,000 (USD) with Tesla planning to begin production of the Model 3 in late 2017.
Base pricing for the car is set at $35,000, though the first cars to roll off the line will likely be well-equipped versions that sell for much more than that. The Model 3 will have a range of at least 215 miles and is promised to have a five-star safety rating.

“When production begins, we will begin deliveries in North America starting on the West Coast, moving east. As we continue to ramp production, we will begin deliveries in Europe, APAC and right-hand drive markets,” said Tesla. “We recognize that everyone wants to get their Model 3 as quickly as possible. Our overarching goal is to maximize total customer happiness within the bounds of what is physically possible.”
