Netflix will eventually stream the new Top Gear hosted by Chris Evans.
The company’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, confirmed to BuzzFeed that Netflix will stream Chris Evans’ version of the show, falling under the same deals of international distribution as the existing Top Gear. Netflix currently streams older episodes of BBC’s Top Gear.
Sarandos couldn’t confirm whether it will be available in every country, but did say it will be multi-territory. “Worldwide I don’t know, as there are pockets of output deals that block all of those things, so we can only control worldwide on things that we can control outright, or things that we take on very early in their life. But multi-territory for sure.”
The new Top Gear is expected to start airing in the U.K. in May, but Netflix was unable to confirm when it will start streaming it internationally.
Former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May recently released a teaser for their new show, which will be distributed by Amazon Prime. No definitive date has been set as to when that show will debut, but the recent video confirmed it will begin airing this fall. There is still no name for Amazon’s new show.
