Subaru WRX STI Seeks New Isle of Man Time Record

Subaru has its eyes set on a new record at the Isle of Man TT Course.

It has been nearly two years since the 2015 Subaru WRX STI set a new Isle of Man lap record and now the Japanese automaker is looking to have similar success with an all-new 2016 Subaru WRX STI time attack car. Rally driver Mark Higgins will once again climb into the driver’s seat of the race car jointly developed by Subaru of America, Inc. and Prodrive, with technical assistance from Subaru Tecnica International (STI). According to Subaru, the time attack car is purpose-built for the Isle of Man TT Course.

The record set in 2014 had an average lap speed of 117.510 mph and a time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds.

“We are excited to be back and running on the Isle of Man TT course,” said Dominick Infante, National Manager of Product Communications, Subaru of America, Inc. “This is one of the most amazing road courses in the world and the Isle of Man TT is one of the most exciting races of the year. We have previously run the TT Course in near-stock Subaru WRX STIs, but this year we set out to design the ultimate WRX STI for this circuit.”
