The Mercedes-AMG GT R will debut next month at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Although the luxury sports car’s unveiling was likely supposed to be kept a secret, it appears Michelin accidentally revealed it with a press release that has since been revised. But this is the Internet, and once something makes an appearance it never disappears.
In the original release that Michelin sent out, the company talked about the Michelin Supercar Paddock which will be back for the fifth year at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The company confirmed one of the vehicles making an appearance in the Supercar Paddock is the Mercedes-AMG GT R, equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and 570 horsepower.
Spy photographers have caught the Mercedes-AMG GT R testing and it is expected to be powered by a tuned variant of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine found in the GT and GT S. With 570 hp, the GT R packs 67 more horsepower than the already-impressive GT S model.
The 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from June 23 through June 26 but expect Mercedes to announce details on the GT R prior to the event. The car is expected to go on sale in the U.S. next summer.
