TVR has officially kicked off its relaunch, showing off its new iStream carbon fiber chassis.
The British specialty automaker is keeping tight-lipped on details regarding its new sports car, and even brought out a concept to the 2016 London Motor Show just to keep it underneath a cover the entire time. Now, it has released a render showing off the iStream carbon fiber chassis that is a product of McLaren F1 chief designer Gordon Murray. This isn’t the first time we have heard of the iStream carbon fiber chassis, as it was also used on the Yamaha Sports Ride concept that debuted at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
“iStream combines leading-edge lightweight technology, low-energy consumption and flexible small-footprint production sites where the market is located to deliver a radical all-new production process, capable of producing equally innovative and forward-thinking vehicles,” reads the brand’s website.
The render also previews a Cosworth-branded engine that will possibly be derived from a Ford Coyote V8 powerplant.
The company says that it has already received over 400 deposits for the Launch Edition of its new sports car and 100 places are still available on the list. Those that sign up for the Launch Edition will receive the iStream carbon fiber chassis at the same price as a standard car using a regular iStream chassis. Once the first 500 orders have been placed, the rest of the interested buyers will be put on a waiting list.
