Ford Fiesta ST Spied Lurking Near the Nurburgring

The next-generation Ford Fiesta ST has been spied testing near the world famous Nurburgring.

Earlier this month, spy photographers caught the standard 2018 Ford Fiesta testing and now the hotter Fiesta ST has made an appearance, hinting that the high-performance variant won’t be far behind. Unlike the Ford Fiesta prototype that was spied in early June, this prototype features a larger cooler of sorts up front, suggesting that it’s packing more power under the hood.

The next-generation Ford Fiesta will grow in size compared to the current model, as Ford looks to move upmarket with its popular hatchback.

Unfortunately the camouflage is doing its job in concealing most of the details on the new Fiesta, although we can make out a familiar shape and style so there shouldn’t be any drastic changes. It does appear that the headlights and tail lights are more horizontal than the current offering, helping make the Fiesta look wider than it really is.

Inside, expect the 2018 Ford Fiesta ST to benefit from upgraded interior materials and less buttons for a cleaner appearance. The small infotainment screen will be replaced with a larger unit and naturally the latest SYNC3 software will be used.

The current Fiesta ST is excellent, except for the low-rent, chintzy interior. If Ford keeps the same exterior look and driving dynamics intact, along with the planned interior upgrade, I’m in for one. My 2008 Mini Cooper is getting tired.
