Here’s More Proof That the Toyota Supra is Coming Back

Toyota has made another move that points towards the launch of a new Supra.

The Japanese brand has trademarked the name Supra in Europe for use on an automobile. Back in 2014, Toyota also trademarked the name Supra in the United States, hinting that the brand is getting ready to use it again.

It is well known that Toyota and BMW are working together on a joint sports car project that will eventually bear the new BMW Z4/Z5 and a new Toyota sports car which will almost assuredly be called the Supra.

Toyota’s new sports machine will take its styling cues from the FT-1 Concept (seen above), while under the hood there might be a BMW engine providing power. Toyota is also rumored to be providing some type of hybrid technology, but the details on the car’s powertrain are still wrapped up tight.

Too bad Toyota is not making a new updated version of the 2JZ engine…can the BMW engines handle 1000-2000 HP? I have a feeling this new supra is gonna cost around $100k…?

  • Emperius

Not looking forward. After a decade of ugly, politically-correct designed vehicles with jaggedy, creased horridness, I will remain neutral on this. Won’t proudly be a “Made in Japan” product as well.

  • Jim Farnsworth

Emperius and Aquaflex, my thoughts exactly. Maybe it’s just me but BMW does not bring visions of reliability and economical maintenance and origami vehicles don’t please my eyes

  • Steven Palmer

will have horrible reliability if BMW monkeys with it! Toyota is making a huge mistake! Of course if enough risc people buy them, they won’t care, when it breaks they just buy a new one…

  • Jawad Karim

I dont, because toyota is a more affordable brand and a 100k car would step ontop of their lexus lc 500 and 500h

  • yamalink

Fingers crossed it’s not all show and no go ala BRZ but with $50k sticker.

  • Aquaflex

The Lexus LC is not even in competition to the upcoming Toyota Supra and yeah I agree the new supra is not gonna cost $100k but it’s not gonna be $30k either…probably only gonna have a 3.0 liter twin turbo (maybe might only be twin scroll) so I think pricing will be between the M2 and the M5…so $60k and around 400HP….not bad….still not a real supra but if it looks bad ass I might bite.

I have more hope for the upcoming next generation S2000….come on Honda don’t let me down…at least it will have a Honda motor and a turbo….

OMG. sour grapes cognitive dissonance. Seriously be happier. Kill yourself.

  • Jawad Karim

The 100k price tag would put the supra in competition or at least draw conparisons. I agreee with u and probably think the suora will start around 60k. I just wish the supra was a true mark iv sucessor

  • Dimce

If new supra comes with bmw engine i will happily stay miles away from that supra

  • CAT2

100K for a car is ridiculous. I don’t care how fast it goes. It’s bad enough that well equipped sedans are over 35K.

  • getoffme

    It’s coming, that’s what’s important.

  • Jawad Karim

Man just keep making the mark 4. It was too great.

  • cat4

    me too

  • Aquaflex

Yeah using a BMW engine it’s not really a supra but a BMW…
