Mercedes-Benz will preview its future Tesla Model X fighter at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The all-electric SUV concept is currently being built at the German automaker’s prototype workshop outside of Stuttgart in Germany, Autocar reports. It will be a uniquely styled concept aimed at taking on the Tesla Model X and other all-electric SUVs being developed by Audi and Jaguar. The model is currently planned to be introduced in 2019 and will be the first of many all-electric vehicles from Mercedes-Benz as the automaker looks to complement its wide range of gasoline, diesel and hybrid models.
Although the company does have its fair share of hybrid models, Mercedes has shied away from EVs except for its B-Class. It is expected that the concept will preview a new electric vehicle platform for the brand, as well as debut a new design language. Future all-electric models also include an upscale sedan to compete with the Tesla Model S.
