The New Porsche Panamera Just Set a Nurburgring Record

The new 2017 Porsche Panamera was just introduced and it has already set a Nurburgring record.

Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 550 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, the new Porsche Panamera Turbo is the fastest luxury sedan around the Nurburgring, beating out the Alfa Romeo Giulia’s time by one second. Porsche’s run stopped the clocks at 7 minutes 38 seconds, and during the car’s unveiling the German automaker said that puts it on par with the Porsche 997 GT3 sports car.

For some perspective on just how fast that is, the new Panamera Turbo’s Nurburgring lap time is comparable to the Lexus LFA, Ferrari 458 Italia and is even faster than the Mercedes SLS AMG.

When the 2017 Porsche Panamera arrives, it will also be available with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 440 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, as well as a turbocharged diesel engine with 422 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque.
