A recent viral video has helped Vancouver police catch an unlicensed hit-and-run driver.
YouTube user Ron Edgar captured this Porsche Cayenne struggling to park into a garage in Vancouver, and the car had a ton of damage on the front passenger side even before the parking attempts began. But this story is about more than just a really bad parking fail. Apparently, the person behind the wheel was an unlicensed 16-year-old who was involved in a hit-and-run collision on June 16, but Vancouver police didn’t have very many details other than that it was a white Porsche Cayenne SUV that hit a parked vehicle and fled.
But once this video was captured and shared on YouTube, it helped police figure out who the driver was. “Thanks to the video, we have identified the driver and the vehicle,” said VPD spokesperson Const. Brian Montague. Montague added that the teenager would have just been given a $276 ticket for driving without a license had he stayed at the scene. But because he fled, he’s being charged with numerous vehicle infractions like having no license, hit-and-run, and driving without due care.
