The 2016 Nurburgring 24 Hours race last weekend was affected by some of the craziest weather the Ring has ever seen.
The weather is hardly ever perfect for the annual 24-hour endurance race, but this year it was on a whole new level. Over a short time frame of a few minutes, the weather went from sunny and dry to a hailstorm that actually red flagged the race for four hours. And since all the cars were racing on dry-weather tires, things got ugly really quickly.
A video has surfaced on YouTube that was shot from where spectators can check out the action during the race and it shows just how quickly the conditions went bad for the racers. The huge storm caused dozens of cars to crash and the race was stopped just 50 minutes into the 24 hours.
The race did restart later in the day and Mercedes-AMG went on to claim a 1-2-3-4 finish.
