2017 Toyota 86, Corolla and Corolla iM All get Small Price Increases

Toyota has announced pricing for two of its orphaned Scion models and its popular small sedan, the Corolla. 

Getting into the new Toyota 86, formerly the Scion FR-S, will now cost $27,120 for a manual-equipped model, an increase of $950 compared to the 2016 FR-S. Getting into a Toyota 86 with an automatic transmission will cost $27,840.

When the FR-S made the jump to Toyota is gained a new look, fresh shock tuning, new gearing for the six-speed manual and a small power boost up to 156 lb-ft of torque and 205 horsepower. The upgrades haven’t helped fuel economy though, with the automatic model rated at 23 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway, two mpg less than the previous car.

The other orphaned Scion model, the iM, will now sell for $19,615 as the Toyota Corolla iM with a manual transmission. Upgrading to the automatic brings the price to $20,355, about $290 more expensive than the previous model. This five-door hatchback model stays nearly the same compared to the previous model, except for the addition of Toyota Safety Sense, which brings along lane departure alert, automatic highbeams and a pre-collision system.

Finally, the 2017 Toyota Corolla will now sell for a base price of $19,365, while top trim XSE models go for $23,545, about $281 more than the 2016 Corolla.

New for 2017, the Corolla gets a new front grille, LED headlights, standard backup camera on all models, new interior fabric choices and some new interior design on the air vents.

The 2017 Toyota 86 and Corolla iM will begin rolling into dealerships later this month. The 2017 Corolla will reach dealerships in early September.

    Scion had a pure pricing policy – no haggle room. That is not the same way with Toyota, so maybe in a way, these are cheaper prices (always the glass half full). For sure though Scion always seem cheaper than the BRZ until you realized that you could haggle a bit at the Subie dealer (though have different trims of course).
