Spy photographers have caught the new Ford Fiesta 3-door hatchback model testing for the first time.
Up until now, we have only seen the all-new Ford Fiesta as a 5-door version, but now we get a look at the sportier 3-door model. Both models will essentially share everything except for the rear doors, meaning the 3-door model will also grow in size. It seems Ford is also seeing how well its small Fiesta can tow a trailer.
Ford is looking to move upmarket with its hatchback offering so that it can leave room for a smaller and cheaper model heading to Europe called the Ka+. That also means you can expect the Fiesta to use higher quality interior components for more refinement.
Although the camouflage is doing its job in concealing all the details of the new Fiesta, it appears the front and rear lights have more of a horizontal design than before, helping make the Fiesta look wider than it really is. The American automaker is also incorporating the latest evolution of its front grille to the model.
Along with better quality materials for the cabin, the new Fiesta should have a cleaner overall interior with less buttons thanks to a larger touchscreen infotainment system. Naturally Ford will have the latest version of SYNC3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
