A three-car accident in pit lane happened during IndyCar’s ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway.
As Alexander Rossi’s number-98 Castrol Edge/Curb Honda exited the pits on lap 64 into the inside lane, he crashed into Charlie Kimball in the number-83 Tresiba Chevrolet who was entering the pits from the fast lane. Once both racecars collided, Rossi’s car went airborne and landed on top of Helio Castroneves in the number-3 Hitachi Team Penske Chevrolet. Rossi’s car actually sat on top of Castroneves’ car over the cockpit area before going over and landing back on the ground.
Fortunately no one was injured in the three-car accident and Kimball’s car was able to continue racing. Both Castroneves and Rossi however had to sit out the remainder of the race and Rossi was penalized 20 seconds for avoidable contact and making contact with pit equipment.
