Mazda has announced a worldwide recall for 2.3 million vehicles over rear gate issues and a problem with its diesel engines.
Six different models, including the Mazda3 and CX-3, have tailgates and trunks that can become disconnected due to corrosion caused by wrongly applied paint.
About 390,000 of these vehicles are being recalled in Japan, while 1.8 millions are being brought back in worldwide markets. Exactly how many of these vehicles are in the U.S. was not disclosed by the company. No accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of this problem.
Separately, Mazda also announced a recall of 110,000 vehicles in Japan over a software issue in a number of its diesel-powered models.
