BMW Celebrates DTM Championship with Hot M4 Special Edition

Sporting 500 horsepower, the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition will be limited to 200 units.

Created to celebrate Marco Wittman’s 2016 DTM championship title, the special edition M4 packs 443 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to go zero-to-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds, while top speed is limited to 190 mph (305 km/h). The enhanced performance is made possible thanks to the same water injection technology featured in the BMW M4 GTS, helping cool the combustion chambers  to increase performance by 16 percent.

The model will be available exclusively in Alpine White and has various aerodynamic components finished in visible carbon to give it a distinctive race-inspired appearance. That includes the front splitter, aero flicks, exterior mirror caps, side skirt attachments, a rear diffuser and a large rear spoiler found on the trunk.

On the inside, the BMW M4 DTM Championship Edition has been enhanced with M Carbon bucket seats covered in exclusive Alcantara and Leather Merino. The entire interior has also been lined with Alcantara, including the M Sports steering wheel sporting a grey “12 o’clock” marker. Replacing the rear seats is a white rollover bar.

On all four corners, the M4 receives Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires sized in 265/35/19 in the front and 285/30/20 in the rear. M carbon-ceramic brakes guarantee fade-free braking even in the toughest of racing conditions, while the suspension features three-way coilovers that are mechanically adjustable both for rebound and damping.

“Congratulations to Marco Wittmann, his team RMG and the entire crew from BMW Motorsport,” says Frank van Meel, President of BMW M GmbH. “We have the pleasure of honouring Marco’s performance by producing a BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition in 2016 to mark his winning the DTM driver’s title. Never before has one of our edition models been so closely linked to motor racing.”
