Watch the Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck Concept Debut Live

Mercedes will debut a new pickup truck concept live streaming today, hinting at the brand’s future in the pickup truck segment.

The pickup truck concept will be revealed at the Kunsthalle Artipelag in Stockholm, Sweden today at 12:30pm EST. It is believed that the production version of the truck will be called the GLT, which will be based on Nissan’s small pickup platform.

Though some of the cab lines look similar to the Nissan Navara based on the teaser video, Mercedes has totally restyled the front and rear ends of the truck to give it unique looks.

Powertrain options are likely to include six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic. Of course, Mercedes 4Matic all-wheel drive will be available.

We expect to see the production version of the truck sometime in 2017.

I like the headlight and taillight treatment, but other than that it doesn’t look remarkable in any way. Has a small box, like the Honda Ridgeline, so not even that effective as a pickup truck. Interested to see what style of canopies are developed for it.
