Chevrolet is trying to make its non-sporty city car, sporty.
Bowing at the 2016 L.A. Auto Show is the 2017 Chevrolet Spark Activ, boasting unique front and rear fascias, off-road skidplates and revised suspension that raises the compact car’s height by 0.4 inch (10 mm). Yes, in a way, the Spark Activ is like a pint-sized crossover and with a starting price of $16,945 including destination, don’t be surprised if they start selling. Other unique changes to the exterior of the Spark Activ include a specific grille pattern with the Activ nameplate, as well as round fog lights and housings that have been integrated in the front bumper.
Under the hood, the same 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine as the standard Spark resides, offering 98 horsepower and 94 pound-feet of torque. It will return 30 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway when equipped with a continuously variable transmission.
