Infiniti Announces Pricing for Q60 3.0T Sport

The 2017 Infiniti Q60 has just hit the market, and the final piece of the puzzle is revealed at the LA Auto Show, the 3.0t Sport model that will split the difference between the base 2.0t and the 3.0t Red Sport 400 model.

The 3.0t Sport will share the same VR-series 3.0 liter V6 twin-turbo engine with the 3.0t Premium models, but borrows heavily from the Q60 Red Sport 400 model, pushing the price to $48,300 for RWD models and $50,300 for AWD when it hits Infiniti dealerships next month.

The 3.0t puts down 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, but the Sport badge is earned by way of sport brakes with silver-painted calipers, sport-tuned Dynamic Digital Suspension, 19-inch aluminum wheels, carbon-fiber interior trim, sport seats, paddle shifters and aluminum-accented pedals. Rounding out the equipment list for the Sport are power-adjustable steering wheel, auto-dimming wing mirrors and two-position driver memory seats.

The 3.0t Sport isn’t the only Q60 at the LA show, though, with the golden Neiman Marcus Limited Edition glittering under the stage lights, straight from the fancy department store’s seasonal Christmas Book. That one lists at $63,000, based as it is on the Red Sport 400 with a VIN number plaque, that attention-grabbing golden paint and a handy dandy weekend bag that matches the interior’s Gallery White leather seats.

Also making an appearance in LA is the forerunner of future Infiniti SUVs, the QX Sport Inspiration, first introduced at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show, its dramatic design promising something as captivating in the luxury SUV market as the Q60 is in the coupe segment.

Finally, Infiniti also has something for powertrain nerds to geek out on: VC-Turbo, a variable compression engine that can modulate its compression ratio to prioritize performance or efficiency as called upon. Nissa states that “VC-Turbo technology uses an advanced multi-link system to seamlessly raise or lower the reach of the pistons, detecting the car’s driving condition and driver inputs, and instantly selecting the most suitable compression ratio.”

Nissan anticipates a power rating of 268 horsepower and 288 lb-ft torque, stacking up against six-cylinder competitors performance-wise while aiming to beat them handily in efficiency. Other benefits include quieter operation with less vibration than other internal combustion engines, particularly diesel and those clattery direct injection units, plus it will be  lighter and smaller than V6 units with equivalent power ratings.

    meanwhile a 5 year old Hyundai Sonata 2.0T has 274HP?

    Yeah… I was expecting at least 350HP from a 3.0T… considering the Ford Mustangs 2.3T puts out 310HP and 320TQ… this is embarrassing.
    I would assume simple modding would turn this thing into a monster…. provided the internals are at least not weak as hell…This is kinda sad… and the car looks beautiful to me.

    Who would mod a 50K car? You know people “Mod” much more expensive cars right. M3’s M4’s, M5’s, AMG’s S & RS Audi’s etc etc etc. but 50k is too expensive to modify? Please

    I was clearly exaggerating… I’m sure someone would spend the time doing so, but the tuner scene would likely be far smaller than the car scenes of cheaper vehicles.

    You do know there is a 400 HP model right? This model is extremely bottlenecked on purpose, for price point reasons.

    The car actually makes more like 360 horsepower, because it dynos at about 300RWHP
