The next-generation Porsche 911 convertible has been spied joining the coupe for winter testing.
Yesterday, spy photographers managed to spot prototypes of the Porsche 992-generation coupe testing in the snow, and now they can offer us a good look at the convertible variant Porsche is testing as well. The popular sports car has plenty of variants based on the same foundation, so expect to see plenty of them out and about testing in the coming months.
Like the coupe, the new 911 convertible will be wider than the current model but don’t expect to see any revolutionary changes when it comes to styling and design.
Details on the new Porsche 992 are light at the moment, but rumors suggest it could ride on a new platform that could eventually underpin other Porsche sports cars like the 718 Boxster and Cayman. Some suggest Audi might even use it for the next-generation R8. The big question remains is whether the next-generation Porsche 911 will introduce a hybrid variant. The German automaker is testing at least two prototypes with different exhaust setups, hinting that there’s more than meets the eye.
Look for the next-generation Porsche 911 to make its debut sometime next year.
