Land Rover used the 2017 Geneva Motor Show to unveil its new midsize luxury SUV.
The Range Rover Velar will sit between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport and the British automaker says it was “created from a clean sheet using Jaguar Land Rover’s Lightweight Aluminum Architecture.” Its exterior styling resembles other modern Range Rover models, but its sleek lines help make it more aerodynamic. In fact, the Range Rover Velar is the company’s most aerodynamically efficient model ever produced with coefficient of drag of 0.32Cd.
When it launches in the U.S., the base model will come with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 2478 horsepower. A four-cylinder Ingenium diesel will also be offered with 180 hp and 317 pound-feet of torque, while those seeking more performance can opt for a supercharged V6 engine delivering 380 hp. The model will be priced from $50,895 including destination when it arrives later this year.
