Gallery: Which One of These Euro Cars Would You Bring to North America?

9

European auto shows are a lot of fun, mainly because we get to see all the cool (and sometimes not so cool) cars that North Americans don’t get.

Roaming the floors of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, there were a ton of little European hatches, wagons, diesels, and cars of all types not offered on our continent. North Americans don’t get a lot of cars Europeans do for a lot of reasons: Stricter North American regulations and emissions standards, wildly different tastes and needs in cars, and the fact that some automakers just don’t operate here.

A few cars we spotted at the Geneva show that we can’t get here include a Ford Focus ST wagon, Subaru Levorg, Opel Adam, Alfa Romeo Mito and Giulietta, Suzuki Swift, and even a diesel Subaru Forester or Outback. A few automakers that don’t sell cars in North America include DS, Peugeot, Citroen, SEAT, Ssangyong, Suzuki, and Renault.

Flip through the gallery above to check out some Euro cars that North Americans can’t buy. Which ones would you like to bring to the U.S. and Canada? Let us know in the comments below!

    The Subaru LEVORG for me

  • David Jones

The Levorg, the diesel Forester & Outback, ST wagon & The Swift. If Subaru was to do the right thing and bring the Levorg to the US, they would find a way to make me not want it, like cvt trans only. I would also like to see them reintroduce the Forester XT manual & the Outback XT with an available manual. Even just the plain Outback with a manual in the US. People in Canada can get the Outback with a manual but not the US.

The Levorg, without a doubt. Also, the Focus ST Wagon.

  • Rocket

DS 7, Levorg and Focus ST wagon. Actually, I’d much rather have the Fusion/Mondeo wagon in Sport trim.

  • Greg J

Any of the hot wagons we don’t get – the Subie Levorg, the Focus ST, the BMW (I’d add the Mazda6 wagon, though it’s not in this photo set). With manuals.

    TWINGO GT

  • Ken

That’s because Americans are incredibly lazy when it comes to driving. It’s not so easy to talk on the phone, drink their Starbucks, or shovel food with a manual.

yes…all must have a 3 pedal option…However, I want the Levorg to carry the Legacy GT (or RS) nameplate…I think the Alfa Mito would be good to have as well as the two Ford estates (wagons) would add a nice mix to the N.American car line-up…I would also like to see the VW Saharan so they can ditch the stupid Chrysler clone…Bring us wagons (in limited numbers w/ the correct transmission) and they will sell because I need to replace my 13yo GTI w/something – Mazda6 wagon, Legacy GT wagon, etc

  • Nathan Olsen

Has far more to do with efficiency improvements in automatic transmission and efficiency standards than laziness, but bonus points for anti American sentiment! That’s always good for a laugh!
