Fisker Previews New EMotion EV With 400 Mile Range

Fisker Inc. has released more renderings of its stylish EMotion EV, which it hopes to put into production before the end of the decade.

Now separated from his previous Fisker Automotive brand, which was purchased by China’s Wanxiang Group and rebranded Karma Automotive, the EMotion is designer Henrik Fisker’s latest brainchild. He released renderings of the sedan earlier this year, however these latest images reveal a slightly evolved design with a more restrained front end.

The company predicts a driving range of around 400 miles for the production EMotion and a top speed of 161 mph. That would put the Tesla Model S P100D right in its crosshairs, which is limited to a top speed of 155 mph and has a driving range of 315 miles. It will also be extremely light with a body made from a mix of aluminum and carbon fiber and will offer full self-driving capabilities, Fisker says.

If it makes it to production, the Fisker EMotion will start at $129,900. The company plans to open the order books on June 30, with a production date in 2019 or later expected.

The article fails to point out that this is a variation of a plug in hybrid with an ICE engine acting as a generator, a battery with a range of ~50 miles and then it uses the ICE to power the electric motors that move the car. A sort of Chevy V-olt with nicer skin.
