Eccentric British sportscar manufacturer TVR has revealed it will debut a new Cosworth V8-powered supercar this September.
The new car, which is being developed in part by McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray, is expected to weigh just 1,200 kg (2,645 lbs) and will deliver up to 400 horsepower per ton thanks to a 5.0-liter V8 engine developed by Cosworth. TVR claims a 0-60 mph time of under four seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph.
Like all TVRs, the new car puts light weight above all else. It will feature part-carbon construction manufactured using Gordon Murray’s iStream process, which sandwiches a strong honeycomb layer between two carbon fiber panels for a cheaper, simpler way to make carbon components.
A limited run of 500 ‘Launch Edition’ cars is expected to arrive first, which will feature a radical ground effects aerodynamics system and other exclusive content. TVR has already received 300 orders for the car before closing the books, but it says it will reopen them following the Launch Edition’s debut at Goodwood. Pricing has been set at “under £90,000.”
