Even a McLaren-Branded Bicycle is Expensive

The new S-Works McLaren Roubaix bicycle from Specialized costs a cool $11,500.

The road bike honors 50 years of historic grand prix and Formula One racing for the McLaren brand, created by the cycling experts at Specialized. This isn’t the first time McLaren and Specialized have teamed up on a product, having created the special edition Venge, S-Works Tarmac, and Venge ViAS in the past.

The latest bicycle, called the Roubaix, features a custom Heritage Orange finish that honors McLaren’s race cars and modern vehicles. The bike also used the British automaker’s own data logging software to develop the Rolling Efficiency Simulator, a different software that was used in part to design the bike.

The body of the bike comprises of Specialized’s FACT 11r carbon, with 12×100 and 12×142 thru-axles, along with rear hydraulic cat-mount disc brakes. There’s also the S-Works carbon fiber crankset.

The bike is also fitted with custom leather bar tape with Heritage Orange stitching, while a silver polished head badge with matching hubs provides a nice contrast. The two wheels are Roval CLX 32 hoop wheels, which are said to resemble the silver wheels found on McLaren race cars.
