As we first reported back in February, Cadillac will equip its SRX crossover with just one engine from now on; a 300-hp 3.6-liter unit borrowed from the Chevy Camaro and Cadillac CTS. Replacing both the turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 and the old 3.0-liter V6, the new engine is up 35-hp and 37 lb-ft on the old 3.0-liter. It delivers the same power output as the turbocharged mill but is down 35 lb-ft of torque.
Other upgrades for 2012 include Bluetooth on all models, as well as a heated steering wheel on Luxury, Performance and Premium trim levels. Plus, those last two will get optional 20-inch wheels.
While unconfirmed, this new engine is rumored to also make its way under the hood of the Chevy Impala, where it will deliver a more than 60-hp improvement at 287-hp.
