At the 2012 New York Auto Show, Jaguar showed off a F-Type Roadster test mule, and rough details on when to expect the production model’s debut. Now, clearer photos of the test mule than our cameras could capture from the screen during the press release are available.

Based on the British automaker’s C-X16 concept, the all-new Jaguar F-Type sports car development has been accelerated based on all the positive feedback from the concept model. The F-Type will originally launch as a convertible, two-seater focused on rewarding its driver. Jaguar plans on offering a range of standard gasoline engines to power the F-Type, including a new powerplant family.

“That car will be called the F-Type, and it will be unveiled in production form later this year. The core appeal of Jaguar’s cars is their sporting heart, and that heart will beat stronger than ever before in the F-Type. Its development is a vivid representation of the confidence and ambition of the Jaguar brand, and the desire amongst our engineers and design team to produce a world-leader in a market segment that we have been absent from for too long. But no longer — the F-Type is coming,” said Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director of Jaguar Cars.

The F-Type is already on its final on-road testing phase and engineering prototypes are coming out of Jaguar’s Castle Brownwich plant which is where the production models will be produced. Full technical details and model ranges will be announced later this year. The F-Type will be on sale in mid-2013.

Hallmark also confirmed during the conference that the production model will be nearly identical to the concept we saw during last year’s Frankfurt Auto Show, a gallery of which you can click through below.

After multiple teasers, RAM has officially unveiled its 2013 1500 packed with a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, with a 5.7L HEMI V8 as an option.

The new 3.6L V6 packs 42 percent more horsepower, 13 percent more torque and at least 20 percent better fuel economy compared to its 3.7L V6 predecessor, according to RAM. The new figures are 305-hp and 269 lb-ft and its fuel economy figures should be around 17-mpg city/24-mpg highway based on a 20 percent increase from the former 14-mpg city/24-mpg highway rating.

LeMay America’s Car Museum (rendered above) will be opening its doors to the general public in Tacoma, Washington in two months. In anticipation of that, the group is bringing a sample exhibit to the upcoming New York Auto Show.

The 22,000-square-foot exhibit will be located on the Lower Level, Hall 1-E of the Jacob Javits Center and will be on display for a limited time on April 4th to the 8th, which is the first weekend of the show. 15 classic cars ranging from the 1963 Buick Riviera to the 1921 Ford Model T will join a collection of vintage motorcycles courtesy of Ace Cafe.

“Our exhibit is just a small taste of what visitors to America’s Car Museum will experience, with examples of cars that Americans love, including some from Nicola Bulgari’s collection,” said ACM President and CEO David Madeira.

The LeMay America’s Car Museum will open on June 2nd and is a four-story, 165,000-square-foot museum located in downtown Tacoma. It will house rotating exhibits using cars, music, film, and photographs and will also feature an educational center, gift shop, banquet center, cafe, and library. ACM also hopes to host vintage car events, rock concerts, and drive-in movies at its adjacent 3.5-acre show field.

Last week, Toyota announced that it would be bringing an all-new U.S. designed sedan to the New York Auto Show and presented us with a single teaser image of the vehicle’s rear-end.

And in stunning fashion, the Japanese automaker had its all-new sedan hoisted up similar to the presumably Lexus ES that was teased on Lexus’s twitter account a few days ago. It appears this year that Toyota is taking to covering up its show vehicles and having them lifted up on cranes in anticipation to the show.

The car isn’t scheduled to have its global debut until April 5th, and we’re still under the assumption that it will be the new Avalon. Check back later this week for AutoGuide’s live coverage of the 2012 New York Auto Show.

The second of four teaser images for the upcoming 2013 RAM 1500 has been released, hinting at some sort of rotating knob, perhaps infotainment related.

The first teaser clearly showed off the grille of the new 2013 RAM 1500, but this image is a little bit more obscure. The RAM 1500 will make its debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show sporting the Chrysler Group’s new 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Two more teaser images will be on their way before the truck’s debut on April 4th.

No folks, this isn’t an April Fools Joke. A pair of images of the Fisker Atlantic fully revealed has leaked and here is the previously called “Project Nina” in its fully glory.

The Atlantic is believed to be the first of three models under the Project Nina umbrella, and according to previous reports will be powered by a BMW-sourced 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. No specifics have been released on its electric motor.

We’re just a matter of days away now from the official reveal at the New York Auto Show, where Fisker also plans to update everyone on how the business is operating during the last shaky months.

After SRT failed to gather enough Facebook likes, the American automaker still granted its fans the above teaser image, claiming it would be the last before the new Viper debuts at the upcoming 2012 New York Auto Show

But whether it’s because there isn’t enough buzz surrounding the new Viper, or the general public is just tired of really bad teasers, SRT announced that it will release one last last teaser on April 2nd at 10:00 am EDT “for one last glimpse at the supercar to come.”

SRT also thanked its loyal fans for standing by driveSRT as they built up to the launch of the new Viper and for sharing in its excitement. We’re not sure who is really that excited anymore, and we have a feeling SRT is going to make one last push to garner attention to their website before the official unveiling.

Check back on April 2nd as we’ll be sure to post up the teaser from SRT, however exciting it may be.

The Fisker Project Nina was teased last week in sketch form, and it now has a name ahead of its official unveiling at the 2012 New York Auto Show.

The new electric sedan from the American luxury automaker will be called the Fisker Atlantic according to an inside source. The four-door plug-in hybrid will be priced around the $50,000 range and will slide in under the existing Karma model at almost half the price. The source also confirmed that the Atlantic will be powered by BMW’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine though no specifics have been released on its electric motor.

We’re guessing the Atlantic will either make or break the Fisker brand, especially with its recent battery recall on all of its Karma models. The lower price range might attract more consumers, but Fisker will still be fighting an uphill battle to ensure that its vehicles are reliable and the technology is sound. If it is successful, however, we could finally see Fisker broadening its model lineup to include a sporty coupe.

We’ll be reporting live from New York next week, paying close attention to what Fisker brings.

Lexus decided to release a teaser of their new 2013 ES model ahead of its New York Auto Show debut, and the marketing machine continues rolling with yet another teaser, this time posted up on Lexus’s twitter account.

We first got a better look at the new ES 250 when it was spotted out in China and it’s without a doubt in our minds that this “masked machine” that’s under a crane and cover is the ES model making its way to the New York Auto Show.

The sixth-generation ES from Lexus promises to deliver a “dynamic new driving experience” and the styling appears to follow in the footsteps of the recently updated GS model. We will definitely know more once that cover is pulled off next week at the New York Auto Show.

As we wait with bated breath to see if the SRT Viper will get another teaser image leak, we can also look forward to the actual reveal at the upcoming 2012 New York Auto Show, which SRT will broadcast live online.

The debut is planned for April 4, when we will be in New York live to report the event. Since most people don’t have press passes, SRT decided to do the public a solid and broadcast the unveil for everyone to see.

Just think — in a week’s time shenanigans like the Hot Wheels leak of the SRT Viper will be irrelevant as we get a look at the actual car. For now, join us in watching the Facebook page which might release a teaser later tonight if enough people care to “like” it, though given the rate those clicks are accumulating, it seems unlikely.

2013-Chevrolet-Traverse-017

Last week, Chevrolet teased a photo of the new 2013 Traverse interior and has now revealed the new crossover-utility vehicle ahead of its debut at the New York Auto Show.

According to Chevy, the 2013 Traverse has a “new, athletic exterior design, complemented by a more expressive front end that introduces a new face for Chevrolet crossover utilities.” From the pictures we see the 2013 Traverse features a very modern and sporty design with a prominent front grille and powerdome hood.

New features in the eight-seater interior include upgraded soft-touch surfaces on the instrument panel and front door uppers, contrasting stitching, chrome and silver accents, and available blue ambient lighting. The new center console features a 6.5-inch Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system along with large and illuminated redesigned climate controls.

Powering the 2013 Traverse is a 3.6-liter V6 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with 288-hp and 270 lb-ft of torque with a dual exhaust. The single exhaust Traverse has 281-hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy figures are 17/24 mpg city/highway for the front-wheel drive model, while the AWD model loses 1 mpg in both categories (16/23).

“We have injected a stronger presence into the Traverse exterior by focusing on the details,” said Phillip Zak, GM director of exterior design. “The small but important changes give it a more vibrant personality that more closely reflects the lifestyles of the families who rely on the Traverse to get them through their busy lives.”

We will be sure to take a closer look at the 2013 Traverse when it makes its official debut at the New York Auto Show.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is getting a mid-cycle refresh, despite launching a mere two years ago in the U.S. The refreshed 2013 Outlander Sport will make its debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show.

The Japanese automaker will be giving the crossover new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and an upgraded interior. In addition, the rear suspension of the Outlander Sport will be fine-tuned along with its CVT. Under the hood, the 2.0L four-cylinder should remain with 148-hp.

Chances are, the redesigned Outlander Sport will have some design influences from the 2013 Outlander, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. Out in Switzerland, Mitsubishi spoke about its new design language and said it was “still being formulated.” Perhaps we’ll get a clearer picture of where the Japanese automaker intends to go with the redesigned 2013 Outlander Sport.

We already knew that Acura would be debuting its new RL flagship luxury sedan at the upcoming New York Auto Show, but it appears that the Japanese automaker will be renaming it the RLX.

Though details are light on the new RLX, we can confirm that it will feature the automaker’s new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. A V6 hybrid engine will power the front wheels while the system will take advantage of a pair of electric motors individually powering each rear wheel. The entire setup will be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and will result in the performance of a V8, with the fuel economy of a four-cylinder.

So far Acura hasn’t revealed exactly what V6 powerplant will be in the RL, but it did mention that the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD will not be standard on the new RLX. We’ll be reporting live at the upcoming New York Auto Show, bringing you the latest coverage.

The all-new BMW M6 convertible is one gorgeous machine and is now scheduled to make its first in-flesh appearance at the upcoming New York Auto Show.

While we’ve seen photos of the new M6 convertible floating around the Internet, this will be the first time the vehicle has made a physical appearance. The company decided to debut the car on American soil, where convertible models tend to be more popular.

Powering the M6 convertible will be the same engine in its coupe counterpart, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 560 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. The same powerplant is also seen in the M5 sedan. Mated to a seven-speed M double-clutch transmission, the M6 convertible will undoubtedly be one of the sportiest drop-tops to hit the market.

BMW has finally made it official: the redesigned X1 Sport Activity Vehicle will be in U.S. showrooms by summer 2012. The redesigned X1 will make its American debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show.

The X1 has been long awaited to make its American debut since the German automaker announced its delay, due to high demand in the European market. Confirmed is the new TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine powering the BMW X1 with 245-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. We are still hoping that BMW will bring its X1 M35i xDrive to America.

Along with the X1 making its world debut at the New York Auto Show, will be the new M6 convertible. New York will also play host to the American debuts of the updated X6 M and 640i Gran Coupe.

The third generation M6 is powered by a new M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine with 560-hp with a seven-speed M-DCT transmission. The 6 Series Gran Coupe will also arrive early this summer to American dealerships.

Fisker has had a tumultuous year so far, especially when news broke that their Nina project was put on hold due to a lack of funds. But the American electric automaker is pushing to prove all its skeptics wrong, announcing a press conference ahead of the New York Auto Show intended to give a look at the future of the brand. With that announcement, Fisker has also released a sketch of what could be the Nina.

It’s not quite proof that the Nina is making progress and frankly, the sketch doesn’t really reveal much – it looks like it was done in Draw Something. Nonetheless, the sketch is the first image anyone has seen on the Nina and was on an invitation for the car’s public unveiling on April 3rd in New York City. That would mean Fisker plans on debuting the Nina right before the New York Auto Show kicks off.

Fisker has said previously that the Nina would be similar to a BMW 5-Series in size, but will be priced more competitively in the 3-Series range of $47,000 before a $7,500 federal tax credit. Under the hood of the Nina will be a BMW-sourced engine, and if we had to take an educated guess on which one, it would be the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that’s in the BMW 328i.

Very few people outside of the Fisker organization have seen the Nina, but one of those that has is Vice President Joe Biden, who called it a “four-door Ferrari.” Despite losing the Department of Energy loan, Fisker has received alternative funding and plans to give a business update at the same event on April 3rd.

Production of the Nina will not start until 2013.

Earlier today, the 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer was revealed but GM mentioned that it would not be bringing it to America. Why? Because models like the Traverse is taking precedence in our market.

“The new Traverse builds on the success of the current model offering a wide variety of improvements to ride and handling, interior materials and exterior styling without compromising the functionality and capability families need to support their busy lives,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Global Chevrolet Marketing.

Alongside the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, a more-refined version of the family-friendly Chevy Traverse will debut at this year’s New York Auto Show. The 2013 Traverse update was “designed to give families a new gathering space with elements of style and refinement inside and out, as well as new and industry-exclusive safety features,” according to Chevrolet.

Just as in the GMC Acadia, the 2013 Traverse will feature the industry’s first front center air bag — engineered to protect the driver and front passengers in far-side impact accidents. Deploying in mere milliseconds, the airbag will inflate in between the driver and front passenger, adding extra protection for both people.

After an announced delay the BMW X1 will arrive in the U.S. shortly, making its debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show.

Complete details are scarce, but it appears that the X1 xDrive28i will make its way to Stateside sporting BMW’s new TwinPower Turbo 2.0L four-cylinder engine with 245-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The X1 has been a hot seller out in Europe, which was the reason for its initial delay over to America. The German automaker wanted to ensure that its supply would match demand before bringing the X1 over to another market.

If all goes well, the X1 xDrive28i could pave the way to our first M Performance Automobile here in America, in the form of the X1 M35i xDrive.

2013-Mercedes-CLC-small-sedan-01.jpg

Earlier this year we spotted spy photos of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLC, and now we have a good reason to believe that it’ll make its worldwide unveiling in Los Angeles.

Last year, the German automaker started the Avant/Garde Diaries, a global online interview magazine that creates a platform for topics ranging from art to fashion to music that shape today’s society. The festival itself brought in international artists and trendsetters to present their perspective on the world of today and tomorrow.

“The aim of Avant/Garde Diaries is to offer a platform for creativity. Curiosity and the joy of breaking through existing barriers are drivers for innovation and progress, and not just at Mercedes-Benz,” said Anders Sundt Jensen, Vice President Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars.

This year, the Avant/Garde Diaries will host “Transmission LA: AV CLUB curated by Mike D” from April 20th to May 6th at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles, California. This festival aims to bring together the Los Angeles art and music community and will be the sequel to last year’s festival that took place in Berlin.

It is at this festival that Mercedes-Benz will have “the artistic staging of the Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe,” according to a press release from the German automaker. Our guess would be that it’s the upcoming CLC model – which is essentially a four-door coupe.

The timing is peculiar, however, considering the Transmission LA: AV CLUB event occurs after the New York Auto Show, which kicks off April 4th. If the baby CLS model is indeed having its world unveiling in Los Angeles, what is the German automaker bringing to New York?

2013-gmc-terrain-denali-1.jpg

GM has revealed the 2013 GMC Terrain Denali ahead of its official unveiling at the 2012 New York Auto Show. The introduction of the Terrain Denali comes with the announcement of an all-new 3.6L V6 engine that will replace the outgoing 3.0L V6 for the 2013 Terrain  model year. The new V6 powerplant will be rated at 301-hp and 272 lb-ft of torque and is expected to deliver better fuel economy than its predecessor.

Those interested in a Terrain but not necessarily a V6 will still have the option of a 2.4L, four-cylinder Ecotec engine that has a best-in-class 32-mpg highway rating while sporting 182-hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive will be standard on the Terrain Denali with all-wheel drive available as an option for buyers.

The list of Denali-specific features is lengthy, but includes signature chrome grille, satin chrome accents, body-matched front and rear bumpers, rocker panels with satin chrome molding, new headlights and taillights, and a dual chrome exhaust – single on the 2.4L. Meanwhile, the interior of the Terrain Denali will receive soft-touch instrument panel with French stitching, leather-wrapped steering wheel with smoked mahogany wood accents, embossed Denali logos on front seatbacks, smoked mahogany wood trim throughout, Denali illuminated door sill plates, and eight-way power driver and passenger seats.

Pricing and availability for the 2013 Terrain Denali will be announced closer to its release in the third quarter of this year.

“Denali is growing fast,” said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of GMC Marketing. “With seven different models, sales for this brand within a brand increased 79 percent from 2010 to 2011. With this in mind, the decision to create a more-upscale Terrain was an easy one.”

Lincoln-MKZ-Concept-12.JPG

The 2013 Lincoln MKZ Concept originally debuted at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show sporting a panaromic glass roof. The production 2013 Lincoln MKZ sedan is scheduled to make its official debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show, and it appears that Lincoln is hard at work on offering a fully-retractable glass roof on its new sedan.

It’s believed that the roof design has been under development for several years at Lincoln and will make its production debut on the MKZ.

As we heard back at the Detroit Auto Show, the glass is actually integrated into the MKZ’s structure, constructed from steel and boron and is designed to give the passengers a personal, open-air experience. The retractable glass roof is just one of many efforts Lincoln is pursuing to help differentiate their models from the lesser Ford platforms that they are based on.

We’ll be sure to get more information when the MKZ makes it debut at the New York Auto Show, at which point we’ll hopefully find out if the retractable glass roof will be standard on the MKZ or available as an option.

2013-hyundai-santa-fe-1.jpg

Hyundai plans on unveiling the 2013 Santa Fe at the upcoming New York International Auto Show, but the Korean automaker decided to give us all a sneak peek through its Twitter account.

Two renderings of the 2013 Santa Fe crossover have been provided, giving us a better picture of what the next-generation CUV will look like in combination to the photos leaked earlier this year.

According to the Korean automaker, the new Santa Fe sports a new styling language “Storm Edge”, stating that it’s a natural evolution from its successful “Fluidic Sculpture” that has been seen on Hyundais the last few years.

By the looks of these photos, it appears that the Santa Fe will continue to be a two-row crossover – the optional third row was tossed out in the 2009 model year – and will continue to compete with the likes of the Nissan Murano and Toyota Venza.

Look for more on the 2013 Santa Fe with AutoGuide’s New York Auto Show coverage starting April 4th.

Jaguar-XF-Sportbrake-04.JPG

Jaguar has just unveiled their XF Sportbrake wagon at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, but Jaguar Land Rover CEO Ralph Speth is already speaking about the future of the British automaker.

According to the CEO, the rumors of a new, baby Jaguar will come to an end at the upcoming 2012 New York International Auto Show when a formal announcement will be made. In addition, Speth confirmed that the Jaguar C-X75 project is still on the plate. To debunk some rumors, Speth confirmed that the new coupe will not be called the “XE”, but wouldn’t reveal to Motor Trend what the name will be.

In the same interview, Speth elaborated that the C-X75 is still under development, but since it is a high-end, low-volume vehicle, it won’t be ready anytime soon. The C-X75 is expected to pack an all-new, high-tech drivetrain. The market will also see at least four more new products from Jaguar in the near future in addition to the new coupe and XF Sportbrake. The British automaker hinted at the Geneva Motor Show that they’ll be more variant models similar to the Sportbrake than actual all-new vehicles.

Lastly, Jaguar elaborated on its engine development hoping to build a new, dedicated factory just for small powerplants. Both Jaguar and Land Rover hope to bring engine production in-house rather than having to purchase engines from other automakers such as Ford. It appears that the British automakers are working on their own four- and six-cylinder engines in both gas and diesel versions. And of course, like all other automakers are right now, Jaguar will tap into hybrid powertrains, it’s just unsure how big of a role hybrids will play in Jaguar’s lineup.
