Well, you can’t afford the real thing, and chances are, you can’t afford the replica either. We’d all like to get behind the wheel of a 1960 Ferrari 250 California Spyder SWB, but let’s face it – unless a magic lamp falls out of the sky to grant us three wishes, there’s no way we could afford the real thing, and as it turns out, even a 1:8 scale replica.
The latest in Amalgam Fine Model Cars line up, the 1960 Ferrari 250 California Spyder SWB has been shrunk down to an intricately detailed 1:8 scale replica. Measuring in at about 24 inches, these models, made by a team of highly skilled model makers, took about 4,000 hours of work to design and create. Add to that another 350 to each individual model to finish and build, and you’ll realize why it costs so much.
Detailed right down to the last point, this replica also includes the engine bay, chassis, drive train, suspension and the cockpit. There are only 199 of these beauties being made, and each one comes with a signed certificate of authentication and a unique edition numbered plate on the base. You can place this on your desk for the not-so-small price of $6,555. To buy it now, visit the Ferrari Store here.
You can’t afford the really thing (don’t feel bad, we can’t either). But chances are you might be able to afford a smaller version of the Ferrari 458 Italia. Then again, maybe not.
Head to the Ferrari Store and drive away with the handmade 1/8th scale model of the Ferrari 458 Italia. Hand-built by skilled craftsmen and engineers at Amalgam Fine Model Cars, the car measures in at 60cm (roughly 2 feet) in length and comes mounted on a carbon fiber base plate with a museum quality clear acrylic dust cover. To get a better look at all the magnificent interior, just open its doors.
Since each model takes 3,500 hours to complete, there are only going to be 100 made. They come in three different color schemes — black with a black interior, yellow with a black interior and red with a tan interior – and will cost you $5,644.

While Ferrari is recalling all those beautiful 458 Italias out on the road due to a fire hazard, Amalgam Fine Model Cars has released a $5,000 1:8th scale replica of the Italian machine. Looks like some clever marketing to us, then again, maybe it’s just a coincidence.
Just checking out the photos of the replica shows just how intricately detailed it is. Apparently Amalgam worked closely with none other than Michael Schumacher to produce this replica. It’s a little perplexing why they’d need the input of Schumacher in designing a replica model that you don’t drive, but maybe it’s because the car they were replicating it off of got burnt down (hardy har har).
Nonetheless, the $5,000 toy comes in traditional Ferrari red, yellow or black and can actually be customized to your specifications. We’re not quite sure what that entails, or what accessories/options are available, but it’s there if you’re interested. We have to say though, we’re very impressed by how nicely detailed the interior is in this model. Many model cars normally just stop with the exterior, but Amalgam really nailed this one when it comes to the interior.

If you’re a scale model car aficionado, you know that Amalgam Fine Model Cars offers some of the highest-quality models on the market. If you fall into the aforementioned category, you’ll be ecstatic to learn that Amalgam has added another creation to their range of intricately detailed 1:8 scale replicas – the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport.
The full-sized version of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport set a new record for the world’s fastest production car at an amazing 267.81 mph. It ousted the previous record set by the SSC Ultimate Aero, which had a 256.12 mph run. As a homage to the powerful Veyron, Amalgam has painstakingly recreated this car in 1/8 scale.
Every detail on the model Veyron has been replicated – you won’t be able to tell the two apart (well, other than the fact that it’ll be hard squeezing into the model version). The limited edition Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport at 1/8th scale is available for £4,325 (about US $6,680).
We seriously suggest checking out the shots of the interior below. You’d swear this is the real thing.
