Prestige car maker Aston Martin has announced that the hallowed V12 Vantage has now joined the list of models available at the brand’s U.S.-based Performance Driving Course in Michigan.

The course, in operation for five years now, is designed to give Aston Martin owners the chance to really experience the performance capability of the brand’s current offerings, in a high speed, controlled environment. The 510-hp V12 Vantage joins its V8 counterpart, four-door Rapide and DBS models, all of which are utilized by the driving course program.

The Aston-Martin Performance Driving Course is a full one day affair and is open to drivers of 18 years or more who are in possession of a full license. For more information, click on the link below:

Pricing for the Aston Martin V12 Vantage has just been announced for the U.S. market and it’s a serious jump over the standard V8-powered model. With a V8 Vantage priced from roughly $120,000, the V12 model commands a serious premium at $179,995.

The new engine produces 510-hp and 420 ft-lbs of torque, enough to accelerate the Vantage to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 190-mph.

Those looking for an even more exclusive ride can opt for the “murdered out” Carbon Black edition V12 Vantage at $194,995. It gets black metallic paint, carbon fiber detailing, a new front grille and 10-spoke black wheels.

During the company’s press conference at the Geneva Auto Show, Aston Martin’s CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez announced that the British automaker intends to race its new V12 Vantage at the Nürburgring 24 Hour race in May.

The V12 Vantage, which was officially unveiled at the Geneva press conference along-side the new DBS Volante and One-77 supercar, is a combination of Aston’s smallest car with its largest engine. The coupe’s 6.0-liter V12 engine makes 510hp at 420 ft-lbs of torque for a 0-60 mph time of just 4.2 seconds.

Top speed is rated at 190 mph.

Dr. Bez did say that some modifications will obviously be necessary to outfit the vehicle for a race, although he did say they would be minor.

We expect to see a rather stripped-down interior, as well as the addition of a roll cage. Light weight racing wheels and slicks will also, no-doubt, be a part of the package, but don’t expect any crazy suspension changes or wild aerodynamics – although a good-sized spoiler isn’t out of the question.

There is also no word on if CEO Dr. Bez himself will help pilot the car. (He has been known to do such things in the past, including co-piloting a V8 Vantage N24 in the Nürburgring 24 Hours race in 2007.

The 2009 Nürburgring 24 Hour race runs from May 23rd to 24th. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the status of this race contender and its result.

Aston Martin V12 Vantage: It’s Really Real

Just 1,000 of the 510hp British exotics to be built

 |  Feb 04 2009, 11:04 AM

You’ve got to hand it to those guys over at Aston Martin, they just keep coming up with ideas that seem too good to be true, and then deliver on our wildest dreams by making them a reality. Case in point: the V12 Vantage that the company will officially unveil at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show

Just yesterday we reported the rumor that the V12 Vantage RS Concept car would see production and today Aston has confirmed the news. The super-Vantage will be powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine and make 510hp and 420 ft-lbs of torque. Aston Martin claims a 0-62 mph time of 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph.

The body of the car will use significant amounts of carbon fiber and judging from the photos, the V12 Vantage will also make use of carbon-composite brakes.

“This is the ultimate performance interpretation of the Vantage range, combining our most agile model with our most powerful engine,” says Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin’s Chief Executive Officer. “It represents the definitive driving package; providing spectacular performance to ensure a dynamically thrilling and everyday useable driving experience.”

“The V12 Vantage has a unique character, one unlike our other cars. This will appeal to different people with different tastes, allowing more people to enjoy the Aston Martin experience.

“This also illustrates one of Aston Martin’s key strengths – the ability to act quickly and turn concepts and ideas into reality.”

How right Dr. Bez is. When the V12 Vantage RS concept car came out it seemed too-good-to-be-true and yet Aston Martin is making dreams a reality. To insure exclusivity, just 1,000 models will be built.

After releasing the first production pictures of its Rapide saloon, there is now a rumor from Aston Martin that the company will bring two new models to the Geneva Auto Show: a car based on the V12 Vantage RS Concept and a drop-top version of the flagship DBS.

We’re most excited about the possibility of a V12-powered Vantage. The concept car featured a 600hp version of Aston’s 6.0-liter V12 engine and weighed less than 3,530 lbs – thanks to gobs and gobs of carbon fiber parts. The concept car has an estimated 0-62 mph time of 4.0 seconds. We don’t expect a production version to be quite as powerful or as light as the concept but a more hard-core Vantage would certainly be welcomed.

The second model might not get our blood pumping quite as quickly but we certainly wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to drive a convertible version of the shockingly-good DBS. This vehicle is also significantly more likely to actually become a reality.
