2,846 BMW vehicles are being recalled for a possible fire risk. Affected models include 2011 5-Series, 5-Series Gran Turismo, 2012 6-Series Convertible, 7-Series, X5, and X6.
No injuries have been reported due to the recall, which is being caused by a circuit board for the auxiliary water pump that can overheat and cause a fire. The German automaker will begin notifying affected owners and dealerships will replace the water pump for free. Owners of the above mentioned BMW models can call BMW at (800) 525-7417 for more details.
Forget chasing down celebrities, there’s far more fun to be had as an automotive spy photographer – especially when you’re in Germany and have use of the autobahn. The video below comes to us from M5Board site owner Gustav, who managed to capture 10 minutes of video showing the upcoming BMW 6 Series Convertible.
The video starts with the BMW test drivers realizing they’re being stalked and their attempt to get away. What they don’t know is that Gustav and his camera aren’t in a standard BMW M3, but a supercharged model by G-Power, making 635-hp. He decides to give chase and as a result we get some of the best shots yet of the new 6 Series Convertible – at speeds up up to 250 km/h (155 mph).
The new 6 Series Convertible could debut as early as this Fall’s Paris Auto Show, with reports indicating a 640i model will be offered with a turbocharged inline-six, as well as a 650xi (AWD) model – although don’t expect an AWD convertible.
