You can stop rubbing your eyes. That’s not a computer generated 1979 Chevy Camaro Z28, that’s a real deal second generation F2 in immaculate, restored condition. To us, it’s not just the world’s cleanest 1979 Camaro Z28, but probably one of the cleanest cars we’ve ever laid eyes on.
What’s probably more remarkable is its asking price: only $29,900 with only 3,191-miles on the odometer. The jet black exterior is genuine GM code 19 black paint and was recently restored to better-than-new condition after seeing very limited road time through its 32 years of existence. Only the vivid orange stripes offset the immaculate paint job.
Under the hood is the car’s original LM1 350-cubic inch small-block V8 powerplant. And as you can imagine with just a little over 3,000-miles on the odometer, the motor sounds as healthy as can be. The motor is mated to the factory three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission while the suspension is a Z28-specific F41 setup.
The wheels on the car were also restored, sporting new-age 225/70/15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As on all four corners. The interior is just as perfect as everything else on this retro resale, sporting GM’s Carmine Red throughout. Everything on the inside is classic Z28 without a single flaw to be seen.
The one-of-a-kind collectible comes with all the original documentation, owner’s manual, original maintenance pamphlet and a 1979 Camaro sales brochure.

With November vehicle sales numbers released, Toyota‘s Sienna still tops the minivan market, but Dodge‘s Caravan in closing in closely for the year while Honda‘s Odyssey and Chrysler‘s Town & Country are no real threat to take the 2011 sales lead. Chevy‘s Camaro however is at the top by a huge margin, compared to its Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger rivals.
While the Sienna has clearly enjoyed success throughout 2011, but only has a 882 vehicle lead to Dodge’s Caravan for year-to-date sales. Toyota is nearing the 100,000 mark with 99,865 Siennas sold through November while Honda’s Odyssey is at 95,579 and Chrysler’s Town & Country is at 84,701.
For your favorite domestic sports coupes, Chevy’s Camaro has no real rival when it comes to sales with its figure coming in at 81,495 compared to Ford’s 65,381 Mustangs and Dodge’s scant 36,250 Challengers.
And despite Saab’s production being halted last spring, they managed to sell 356 vehicles in November bringing their year-to-date sales to 5,340 vehicles.

We could be wrong about this, but we always thought the idea of a limousine was for added comfort and a sense of luxury while going from point A to point B. So label us confused when we spotted this eight-passenger, stretched, matte black, Chevrolet Camaro up on eBay with a current bid of $28,100 at the time of this posting.
As if the look of the stretched Camaro wasn’t silly enough, a glance at the red and black interior proves just how ridiculous of an idea this was. Package it with the dual rear gullwing doors, LED lighting in the wheel wells, and the multiple TV screens and you’ve got an official 140″ head shaker. It also sports 14,655-miles on the odometer and the reserve still wasn’t met.
We’re hoping whoever ends up buying this awesome Camaro gives it over 700-hp and takes it down the quarter mile.

Chevrolet has announced pricing of their 2012 Camaro Zl1 at $54,095. Chevrolet claims that the car compares favorably to more expensive cars like the Audi R8 GT, Mercedes-Benz SLS and Maserati Gran Turismo, which cost between $122,800 and $196,800 based on available performance.
Of course, that suggestion is laughable, as those cars would never be cross-shopped and their respective demographics likely have a mutual enmity. By comparison, rivals like the Ford Shelby GT500 and Dodge Challenger SRT-8 392 retail for $48,645 and $42,780 respectively. The ZL1 will also hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 184 mph.
Chevrolet revealed their COPO Camaro, Hot Wheels Camaro and a special Chevelle yesterday and AutoGuide was on hand for the reveal at the Wynn hotel.
We also managed to get some video with representatives of both Hot Wheels and Chevrolet to walk you through the cars. Hit the jump to check it out.

Chevrolet hosted a special event at the Wynn in Las Vegas to showcase three new muscle cars, as well as the special edition Sonics already brought to you by AutoGuide.
First up was the Chevrolet Camaro COPO concept, a preview of what Chevrolet says is their potential NHRA Eliminator class dragster. While Chevy says that the car is a concept, Ford’s Mustang Cobra Jet means that the COPO will almost certainly go into production just to make sure that Chevrolet has a dog in the fight. With a 9″ live rear axle conversion, roll cage, 2 speed Powerglide transmission and a choice of two crate motors (a supercharged 327 or a 427), the COPO could be a serious contender on the dragstrip.
Chevrolet also unveiled a special Chevelle commissioned by Dale Earnhadrt Jr, which was designed to show off their new crate motor program. Chevrolet will now offer a turnkey package featuring a motor, transmission and all wiring and ancillaries that will enable hot-rodders to simply drop in a complete drivetrain with minimal work involved. Two 4-speed automatics will be offered with either a naturally aspirated smallblock or a blown LSA V8.
Lastly, a special edition Hot Wheels Camaro Concept, commemorating 45 years of Hot Wheels toys. The concept features a special paint treatment similar to the original die-cast cars, designed to give the Camaro a shimmering paintjob, with a process involving the entire car being chromed as well as painted.

MagnaFlow, based out of Southern California, has teamed up with racing legend Mario Andretti to build one mean, clean Camaro for this year’s SEMA Show. The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro will also be auctioned off for charity at an upcoming Barrett-Jackson 2012 Scottsdale auction in Arizona with all the proceeds going towards the Wounded Warrior project.
The Camaro SS comes courtesy of Chevrolet while MagnaFlow outfitted it with their high-performance exhaust and Magnuson supercharger to enhance the Camaro’s performance. Getting the power to the ground is an ACT clutch while the exterior looks the part with a full Street Scene carbon fiber body kit. Keeping it all classy, MagnaFlow opted for a set of 20-inch HRE wheels mated to Pirelli rubber to cover up the Brembo brakes. Suspension upgrades come from a set of Eibach springs.
In order to earn Mario Andretti’s stamp of approval, Andretti himself took the MagnaFlow-built Camaro out to Nashville Super Speedway to take it through its paces. After inspecting and driving it on the track, Andretti approved of the project and will be alongside the Camaro on November 2nd, at the show.

We’ve been teased with photos of Chevrolet‘s newest and meaning Camaro yet, the ZL1, but the manufacturer has been tight lipped on its complete specs…that is, until now. It seems that dealerships now have the full specs on the ZL1, with a leak getting posted on the Camaro5 forums revealing that it’ll be packing 580-hp and 556 lb-ft of torque in a 4120-lb body. It’s also worth noting that the Camaro ZL1 has already posted an impressive Nurburgring time of 7 minutes and 41 seconds. (See the video here).
Enthusiasts interested in the ZL1 will have a choice of nine colors (Black, Ashen Gray, Inferno Orange Metallic, Rally Yellow, Silver Ice Metallic, Summit White, Victory Red and Crystal Red Tintcoat) to choose from, two wheel options (five-spoke and 10-spoke) in a 20-inch sizing, and the option of either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. In addition to the standard four-pack console gauges seen in the existing Camaro SS, the ZL1 will also sport a boost gauge.

See the complete details after the jump:
According to General Motors’ PR machine, the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 set a Nurburgring lap time of 7 minutes, 41 seconds and 27 milliseconds.
For the sake of comparison that time is just a second and a half off the time released by the new 2012 Porsche 911 and is the same as the 997 Porsche GT3. The 2012 Corvette Z06 recently laid down a 7:22 lap time, while the current record holder for production cars is the Dodge Viper ACR with a 7:12 time.
We wish we were excited about this announcement, but knowing what a crock most Nuburgring times are, we’re remaining unmoved. The only accurate measure of its performance will be to actually drive the car, so until then, speculation on the ZL1′s performance will remain off-limits for us.

Tony Stewart and Stewart-Haas Racing have teamed up with Mobil 1 as their oil brand of choice and with two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships to their respective names, it’s a pretty good sponsorship for Mobil 1. Now they’re leveraging their relationship with Stewart (to your advantage we might add) by offering a Tony Stewart-customized Chevrolet Camaro SHR as a giveaway, among other various prizes.
The grand prize will be a special edition 2011 Camaro Convertible customized by Tony Stewart and the Mobil 1 team. The approximate retail value of the vehicle will be $50,000, so it’s a good bet that there’s a few nice goodies packed into the convertible. 20 lucky people will receive a Mobil 1 twill jacket while 45 will get a Mobil 1 pit shirt. 150 more people will have the opportunity to win a Mobil 1 fleece sweatshirt, while 300 will get their hands on a Tony Stewart t-shirt. Last but not least, 450 people will get a consolation price of a Mobil 1 pit cap.
The random drawing will be conducted on October 17th, 2011 and the grand prize Camaro winner will be notified on or around October 19th.
Car buyers are choosing panorama roofs instead of convertibles. Ford has reported that sales of vehicles with panoramic roofs are increasing. Almost half of buyers purchasing the Explorer and Edge SUV are purchasing the option. About a third of Flex buyers are also buying the same skylight paneled cars.
Convertible sales have also decreased accordingly. Traditionally, drop top sales accounted for 1.8% to 2.0% of the automarket which is down to 1.2% to 1.4%, according to information firm R.L Polk & Co. For a comparison, the best selling convertible this year was the Chevrolet Camaro with 7,540 sales. The 2011 Explorer has already sold almost 25,000 vehicles equipped with the panoramic roofs. One reason for this success is that consumers are turning to more practical vehicles and finding that the panoramic roof is a good compromise.
Ford also has its own theory as to why the glass roofs are a hit. “We are seeing more buildings utilizing glass structures because letting natural light in is a popular architectural trend,” said Sheryl Connelly, Ford’s manager of global trends and futuring. “This trend has crossed over to the automotive industry, and Ford’s Vista Roofs open the car to more sunlight which keeps drivers energized and gives the luxurious feel customers desire.”

In celebrating its 100th year anniversary, Chevrolet has decided to release a video paying homage to all the special edition Camaros that have been released in the past 45 years of their flagship model’s existence. Even though the video is rather short, it does a great job showing off the special editions of Camaros made throughout its five generations.
Obviously the video is focused on the fifth generation Camaro, but it’s interesting to see how the model and its branding has evolved over the years and the role that Special Edition models have played in generating such a loyal fanbase.

While putting on a drifting demonstration out at the Milan Dragway in Michigan, the driver and passenger in this Chevrolet Camaro got an unsuspecting surprise when the side air bags deployed, slightly burning the arms on the passenger. Amazingly, the entire sequence of events got caught on video, which was then instantly uploaded to Youtube.
Obviously having technology work to your advantage when it comes to safety is something each of us wants when we get inside our vehicle, but this might be a little discomforting for some Camaro owners that may have aspirations to do some fun, spirited driving in a responsible fashion. GM spokesperson Alan Adler has already responded to what happened in this particular incident:
It is unusual to have this occur. However, it is possible for a driver to create conditions where the air bag sensors believe a rollover is imminent. This can lead to an unwanted air bag deployment. On rollover side curtain bags, the vehicle’s rollover sensing system is looking for a certain set of factors that ‘predict’ a vehicle is going to roll over. The airbag system cannot wait until it is too late to deploy the airbags. Drifting or creating a situation that has a certain combination of speed and vehicle angle can lead to an unwanted air bag deployment.”
While it didn’t seem to us that the Camaro was on the verge of rolling over, clearly its electronics thought it’s best to be safe than sorry. Hopefully all those Camaro owners out there watch this video before doing any drift demonstrations.

Chrysler is cranking up the heat when it comes to SRT raw power. Chrysler is said to be looking at offering a supercharger package for its LX-based SRT products that could produce as much as 570-hp. Chrysler has been developing an Eaton-sourced supercharger package that will boost power for the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 from 470-hp to between 540-570-hp.
The twin-screw supercharger kit will most likely be offered as a factory part, but dealers may also offer the kit as a retrofit to cars currently sold. Pricing details are unknown and the kit probably won’t be offered on the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. The kit will most likely be available next year, on 2013 model year cars.

Sales of convertibles are lowering like a power hardtop, with an over 50% decline in just four years.
Convertibles have never been the most popular of vehicles, owing to people eschewing fresh sunshine for such plebeian concerns such as seats and storage room. But in 2006, convertible sales still managed to account for 2% of car sales in America, with 350,000 drivers showing off their bald spots.
But by 2010, the decline of open-roofed cars sunk to 1.2% of the current car market. The stars of the convertible show are the Chevrolet Camaro, with 12.4% of convertible sales, and the Ford Mustang, following behind at 11%. And no surprise, either: no matter how bad any recession gets, the two pony cars will always have lasting appeal.
One of OnStar’s advertising points is the reassurance that if your car gets stolen, it can not only track where it ends up, but also deactivate it instantly. Turns out, it’s not just a load of advertising malarky.
Four Chevrolet Camaro coupes were stolen from a dealership in St. Louis, Missouri, in the early hours of Monday. Police were able to track the vehicles based on their OnStar information from the dealership, and quickly arrested the suspects. One of the cars was silver, the other yellow, and all had temporary plates.
Then again, a chain of speeding Camaros at four in the morning isn’t exactly subtle. Witnesses saw the procession and reported it into police, who were able to provide OnStar with their latest round of marketing success.
Those fans of Transformers’ Bumblebee can now get themselves a $3,000 package to their 2012 Rally Yellow Camaros, transforming it to the movie-inspired Autobot. Available in all major markets around the world, the Transformers Special Edition Chevy Camaro will be available for order starting in July with deliveries in North America estimated to begin in September.
Clearly Chevrolet believes that the Transformers franchise has helped reintroduce the Camaro to the general public after its seven-year hiatus. And who are we to argue with its impressive sales numbers. Chevrolet claims it sold 40,275 Camaros this year, widening the gap to Ford’s Mustang, who only sold 30,206 units in the same time frame.
The Transformers Special Edition package will be available on 2LT and 2SS Rally Yellow Camaro Coupes and has several more add-ons in addition to the RS appearance package. Your personal Bumblebee replica will include black rally stripes over the hood, roof, decklid and rear spoiler to give it the infamous Bumblebee look. For wheels, black-painted 20-inchers will find their way on the Camaro with Autobot Shield logos on the center caps. Those same logos can also be seen on the front-quarter panels.
For the interior, don’t expect this Camaro to come to life and speak to you, nor will it come with Megan Fox in the passenger seat. Instead, you’ll be treated with black leather interior with yellow accents and Autobot Shield logos embroidered on the front head rests and center console lid.

The most die-hard Dale Earnhardt fans can now own a piece of machinery dedicated to his namesake and prowess on the NASCAR track. Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet is now offering a Chevy Camaro fit to be nicknamed the Camaro Intimidator, paying homage to the fallen NASCAR driver. Thing is, you have to be a pretty die-hard Earnhardt fan to shell over the $80,000 they’re asking for it.
The price tag is somewhat warranted however, as you’ll be receiving the keys to a 704-hp supercharged Camaro. And power underneath the hood isn’t all that the Intimidator will offer; the aesthetics sport a bit of a NASCAR flavor with an aluminum blade spoiler and front racing splitter. Along with the Eaton supercharger, other modifications include upgraded suspension, chassis modifications, a custom exhaust and larger brakes.
Minor accessories to the vehicle include a vented hood, chrome plated Intimidator badges, a new grille, afterburner-style tail lights, 6LE Designs gauges and engraved chromed wheels. And for those that think $80,000 is too small a price to pay in order to show off your Earnhardt respect there’s a Historic edition available for $85,000, but no details were available on what makes it historic.

The Volo Auto Museum will be hosting one of the most comprehensive Hollywood car auctions ever on June 8th. Based out of Illinois, the auction will feature plenty of Hollywood’s most famous rides including the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine and Herbie, from Lindsey Lohan’s 2005 feature film. And the coolest part of the auction? No reserves!
But of course no auction featuring Hollywood cars would be complete without some from the Fast and the Furious movies. Several vehicles will be auctioned off from the fourth installment, including the 1973 Camaro F-Bomb, an Infiniti G35, the Buick Vin Diesel drove in the opening scene and the 1970 Chevelle he beat Paul Walker in.
Other noteworthy vehicles include a Gotham City police car from The Dark Knight along with the infamous semi-truck and trailer. A jalopy from the movie Beverly Hillbillies is a nice classic, along with Switch Blade, the first vehicle ever built on Jesse James’ Monster Garage. Oddities include the Bull car from Death Race 2000 and a Jeep from Windtalkers. Last but not least is the truck Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett used in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
With no reserve set for any of these vehicles, we have to wonder how low some of them might go for.

A widespread outcry by race fans and Indianapolis residents has led to Donald Trump being given the boot from the Indy 500 pace car drivers seat.
Trump was scheduled to drive a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible at this summer’s race. While Trump claimed earlier that he would not back down from the opportunity, race organizers are apparently meeting to discuss how to prevent The Donald from taking his place at the Brickyard. Organizers discussed various options from replacing Trump with another celebrity, to changing the actual pace car and bringing in a new driver. Trump allegedly decided to bow out himself using the excuse of time constraints to justify his exit. Organizers say that a new driver will be announced later this month.
Tintek, a tuning company from the Czech Republic, specializes in wrapping sports cars with unique finishes. And while matte finishes are all the rage right now, there’s no denying that certain enthusiasts prefer something more flashy…like chrome.
While we don’t really expect chrome and gold chrome wraps to take off here in America, it’s interesting to see the trends overseas for those looking for something on the opposite end of subtle. We have to admit, both the TT and Camaro look pretty nice decked out in full chrome; and if your goal is to be seen, this is probably a very good option for you.

Chevrolet will also donate $100 from each sale to Cell Phones for Soldiers. And to make it an even more enticing deal, Chevrolet will allow spouses and retirees of Active and Reserve members, U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard and Coast Guard to take advantage of the discount. Ranging from $500 to $4,000 off, those eligible can take advantage of a nice discount towards most Chevrolet, Buick and GMC vehicles.
In addition, GM will debut a limited edition Honor and Valor 2012 Camaro SS at the Indianapolis 500 on May 28th. Just 99 of the special Camaros will be made and can be ordered by visiting www.gmmilitarydiscount.com.

A special edition Chevrolet Camaro has been announced to celebrate the car’s 45th anniversary. Available as a 2012 model, the Camaro will sport a graphics package featuring a red stripe, unique badging and 20-inch wheels. In addition, aesthetic upgrades include lighting modifications with dark silver trim on the foglights and taillight bezels. Horsepower will also be increased to feature 323-hp, 11 more than last year’s 3.6L V6. That extra output comes from a new LSX engine that is also 20 lbs lighter than its predecessor – and the Camaro could certainly use the diet.
On the inside, the Camaro will feature Jet Black leather interior accented with red, white and blue stitching. A 45th anniversary logo can also be seen, which is a nice and tasteful feature. The gauge cluster also sports special white gauges.
In addition, for 2012 GM is also offering an FE4 suspension package for the SS Coupe. The package includes dampers for each corner, 23-mm front sway bar and 24-mm rear sway bar. Plus, 20-inch wheels will also be available for SS owners.
Pricing has yet to be announced for the special edition Camaro.

Donald Trump is set to join the illustrious list of Indy 500 Pace Car drivers when he slides behind the wheel of a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS at the quintessential American motorsports event.
The Camaro SS Pace Car, announced earlier this year, will be a convertible model, and that gives us extra incentive to tune in. We can’t wait to see how the Donald’s hair holds up at triple digit speeds.
