Pebble Beach Concours dElegance 2011 08.JPG

In case you missed last week’s coverage of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, we’ve created a video hub for all of our coverage from the week’s festivities. It’s not just historic models either, with plenty of other events being held simultaneously in Monterey, CA that week; not to mention several new car unveilings.

Along with the exotics at Concorso Italiano, new vehicles revealed include the 2013 Lexus GS350, the Infiniti JX Concept, the Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept, Cadillac Ciel Concept and the first North American showing of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato.

If you love exotic cars, Italian ones in particular, then Concorso Italiano needs to be on your bucket list. A celebration of all Italian cars, from modern Ferraris and Lamborghinis to more humble Fiats and some very obscure classics. Plus you can always count on a strong contingent of Panteras. Perhaps the star of this year’s show, however, was a Ferrari F50 GT1.

Let’s not accuse the Italians of being car snobs though. There are are several paddock areas for other models, ranging from Porsches to Acuras. But if you do fancy yourself a bit of an Italian car elitist, check out these galleries and the video below

Sure there are plenty of Ferraris and Lamborghinis at Concorso Italiano, but there’s lots more to be seen at this exotic car show, especially if your interests veer towards the ironic or obscure.

On the more modern side there was everything from a Mansory-tuned Mercedes McLaren SLR, to the stunning Ferrari 599-VX – a car modified by the carbon fiber experts at Vorsteiner.

Some truly rare birds included an Alfa Romeo GTV6 that has been modified by famed Corvette tuner Callaway. Or if you’re looking for American cars with some Italian flare we counted five Cadillac Alantes, with bodies that were not only designed by Pininfarina (the well-known Ferrari, Maserati designer), but even manufactured in Italy and shipped to Detroit for assembly.

Other obscurities included a bright yellow Vector (complete with 3-spoke wheels) and two Alfa Romeo JR Zagatos that will have you feeling like your looking at a retro Italian CRX.

Check out all these cars and more in the gallery below.

Like a package of Skittles tossed into a sea of red Ferraris, the presence of Lamborghinis at Concorso Italiano might be small in number, but it’s big in impact.

Originality is something Lambo owners take tremendous pride in and it shows, with custom touches on the cars ranging from a brown Murcielago with gold wheels, to aftermarket exhaust pipes big enough to fit an iPhone. Plus, there were plenty of classic models, not to mention the latest, including the Aventador. And let’s not forget the Super Trofeo factory race car.

Browse through a selection of all most of the Lambos at Concorso Italiano below.

It may be called Concorso Italiano, but it might as well be the Ferrari Festival with prancing horses from all decades the overwhelming exotic car of choice at the annual event. Held the past several years at the Laguna Seca Golf Course, we’ve snapped just a selection of the incredible machinery on display in the hopes of providing a glimpse into just how extravagant this event really is.

While every Ferrari is a bit special, some Ferrari’s are a bit more special than others, and one of those extra special ones will be honored at this years Concorso Italiano in August.

This event has in the past celebrated the 288 GTO, which resulted in the largest ever gathering of this model, and last year they honored the F40 (an event we covered). Now it’s the turn of the F50 to take the honors at the greens of the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch.

The F50 is one of the rarest of even the rare Ferrari’s since only 349 were made and hence their prices are only going up with time. It is a beautiful design wrapped on a modified Ferrari Formula-One racers underpinnings. We are big fans of this model ourselves.

So if you’re in the Monterrey Peninsula on August 19, 2011 and like eying up Italian exotica, drop by to check out this event. We will be there with our cameras in hand and our check books at home.

After a warm reception in Europe, Zagato has announced it will sell its Chevy Corvette-based Perana Z-One in the U.S., with the official news and the car’s North American premier taking place at Concorso Italiano. The car will be imported through Superformance out of California, with pricing sure to be significantly higher than the Vette on which its based.

A standard Corvette chassis is available, with its 436-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8, as well as a Z06 chassis with the 505-hp 7.0-liter LS7. Both of these options are mated to a six-speed ZF limited-slip differential equipped transmission. Inside, the Perana gets reworked with Recaro seats and plenty of Alcantara.

Zagato says a limited production of 999 units will be made with a small number making it to America. The rest will be sold in Europe and the Middle-East.

For its second year under new ownership and at the new Laguna Seca Golf Ranch location, Concorso Italiano continues to grow. With the numerous other events on the Monterey Peninsula leading up to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Concorso Italiano is one of the few that caters to late model vehicles – although it does also celebrate Italian classics.

Dominated by Ferraris, there are actually too many to count, with even numerous versions of rare models like the F430 Scuderia Spider 16M on display. Notable models included a black 458 Italia and a very black Enzo. We’re also big fans of the Novitec Rosso F430s on display, with the yellow F430 Scuderia pumping out 780-hp thanks to twin superchargers. And right next to the Novitec booth, was a display for luxury lifestyle forum Luxury4Play.com, with plenty of excellent hardware include one of the owner’s F430 Scuderias. Sporting a camo job, to both protect the paint and draw attention to the GoldRush rally, we’re absolutely in love with the matching golf HRE wheels. This year’s Concorso also featured a Ferrari F40 reunion.

While significantly smaller in number, the display of Lamborghini models certainly was not lacking in variety, with plenty of wildly colored Lambos. Along with some more highly customized models (including some pretty tacky versions), there were also some shiny new models on display, including several Murcielago LP670-4 SVs and one very new Gallaro LP570-4 Superleggera.

Check out all the cars (well, maybe not ALL of them) in the galleries below.

Displayed proudly amongst its Italian brethren, the Fiat 500 attracted plenty of attention during the new model’s first showing at Concorso Italiano – one of the may high profile events in the lead up to Sunday’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. And to go along with the 500, Fiat was winning over attendees with Gelato and San Pellegrino, while showcasing a lineup of stylish Fiat accessories.

We have no doubt numerous Fiat items were purchased by the monied attendees. In fact, the only thing not selling was the 500 itself – which is set to hit dealers this December. That’s a bit unfortunate for Fiat as we’re certain they could have sold dozens of models to the Italian car-loving participants and attendees at Concorso – particularly to some of the wealthier folks who probably spend more than the Fiat’s MSRP on a watch.

Fiat is set to officially debut the U.S.-spec 500 at the LA Auto Show this December.

As planned, the annual Concorso Italiano festival brought together a collection of Ferrari F40s from across the continent so that the owners, and onlookers, could revel in their minimalist glory. Destined to be one of the most collectible Ferraris of all time, the F40 is a bare-bones street legal race car powered by an awesome twin-turbo 2.9-liter V8 engine. Making 471-hp, it weighed just 2,400 lbs thanks to a carbon-Kevlar body and did not have traction control – meaning we’re surprised so many have survived.

Built to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary as an automaker, just 1,315 models were ever built. As many as 14 were scheduled to be on display at Concorso, but we only counted 10 (then again, erhaps we missed a few as they all do look rather similar).

Be sure to ogle each and every one in the gallery below.

The very first special project vehicle made by Ferrari, the SP1 made its North American debut at Concorso Italiano today, one of the lead-up events to Sunday’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Owned by Junichiro Hiramatsu of Japan, the SP1 features custom bodywork by Leonardo Fioravanti, who’s past works for Ferrari include the Dino, Daytona, P5, P6, 512 Berlinetta Boxer, 365 GT4 2+2, the 308 GTB and the 288 GTO. The SP1 was built under the auspices of Ferrari, and is fully sanctioned by the company.

Based on the Ferrari F430, the SP1, which stands for Special Project 1, gets a new body with retro styling, while the underlying mechanicals remain the same – including the 490-hp 4.3-liter V8 engine.

We can’t say we’re overly fond of this look and much prefer the 430′s shape. Tell us what you think by leaving a comment.

Time is getting closer for the official Fiat 500 release on American soil, and everyone is getting excited. So much so that Fiat is looking for every possible enthusiast out there that owns a Fiat 500 or 600 built between the 1950s to the 1970s to display their cars at the world famous Concorso Italiano during the Pebble Beach festivities.

Fiat is requesting anyone who owns one of those Fiat classics to email or call the Concorso Office to receive a “special invitation.” And they don’t care what condition the vehicle is in, they simply ask that you do wash and wax it. This special once-in-a-lifetime display will probably be nice to usher in the new era of Fiat 500s that will be sold late in 2010.

AutoGuide be on hand to cover the event and will be sure to see what fine collection of classic Fiats they were able to gather. Plus, we’ll also be sure to check out the European version of the Fiat 500 that will be on display.

The Concorso Italiano will be at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey, California on August 13th, 2010 from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

After last year’s incredibly successful Ferrari 288 GTO reunion, Concorso Italiano will try to bring together F40 owners for this year’s go-fast festival. In total 13 owners have already confirmed attendance and Concorso organizers expect many more in the coming weeks.

To help promote the gathering, F40 Project Director and designer Leonardo Fioravanti will be a guest of honor this year. His works also include the 365 GTB Daytona, Dino, 308 Series and 388 GTO.

If you have an F40 and want to take part, contact Concorso Italiano at the link below. And if you don’t own one, wish you did and want to see this historic occasion, it will take place August 13th at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey, CA, during the annual Pebble Beach festivities.

Just a year and a half after it was first unveiled as a concept car the Fisker Karma is set to take to the road track during the Monterey Peninsula’s Classic Car Week. On August 15th, the plug-in hybrid Karma will run two laps of the world-famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca course at 11:10 a.m on August 15th, during the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Race.

“The Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races is the best stage in the world for great moments in automotive history,” said Fisker Automotive CEO, Henrik Fisker. “Fisker is honored to be a part of it.”

Using a 260hp GM-sourced Ecotec motor and two 201.5hp electric motors, the Karma’s Q-Drive powertrain allows the plug-in hybrid to travel 50 miles on pure electric power before the gasoline engine kicks in to recharge the lithium-ion battery packs. But it’s more than just a plug-in hybrid, it’s a full-on luxury sedan and can even perform with a 0-60 mph time of 6.0 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph.

The Karma will also be on display the day before at Concorso Italiano, alongside the Karma Sunset hardtop convertible concept. The Karma Sunset will also make an appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 16.

Concorso Italiano is set to regain some of its past glory with a new venue for 2009, the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch.

Last year the even moved from it’s usual location at the Bayonet Blackhorse Golf Course to the Marina City airport – a move that prompted a wave of complaints from exotic car owners. The Concorso Itlainao event was sold to 2008 and the new owners have come through on a commitment to ensure classic and exotic cars are displayed on freshly cut grass – in true “concourse” fashion.

The new location is situated half way between the world famous Laguna Seca raceway and the Monterey airport.

It will take place on August 14th and will run from 9:30 to 5 p.m.

Tickets are $85 for spectators and include parking. Owners of Italian vehicles can register for $125 and non Italian vehicles can be signed up for $175. These prices run until May 31st, after which costs will increase.
