After confirming that the EV-STER Concept was making its way into production, it appears now that Honda‘s concept may not be an electric vehicle at all. We already knew that Honda CEO Takanobu Ito already hinted at the possibility of both standard gasoline and electric powertrains for the EV-STER Concept, and now we have reason to believe that the gasoline variant may see the light of day before the electric one does.

The EV-STER has a layout perfect for an engine to be housed right behind the seats, making it a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive replacement for the popular but now discontinued Honda S2000. Unfortunately no one still has any reports of which powerplant is even on Honda’s radar to use in the EV-STER, but now we’re really hoping for a S2000 replacement from the EV-STER.
