Honoring the Lotus Renault Formula One Grand Prix team, the British sports car company is giving three passionate UK enthusiasts the opportunity to own a very custom car. The GP Edition Evora S is fully loaded with the Premium Pack with SuedeTex, Lotus’ Tech Pack and a set of 19-inch forged diamond cut wheels. The special edition Evora S is clearly race-inspired, with a gold-and-black paint scheme that resembles the Lotus Renault Formula One Grand Prix race graphics.
The limited edition of just three vehicles will surely be snatched up quickly in the United Kingdom, sporting a price tag of £69,950 – or a tad over $110,000 based on today’s conversion rates.

September 5th marks the birthday of Freddie Mercury, the legendary front man to the rock and roll band Queen. Having succumbed to AIDS almost twenty years ago, fans, friends and family will gather at the Savoy Hotel on September 5th, 2011 to celebrate what would have been Freddie’s 65th birthday.
In honor of the occasion, Lotus has donated a one-off Evora S for a charity auction with proceeds going to support the HIV AIDS charity fund, Mercury Phoenix Trust. The striking sports car’s color scheme features red and gold racing stripes as well as an interior influenced by one of Freddie Mercury’s stage costumes back in 1986. To top it all off, the Evora will also sport Mercury’s signature on the passenger side of the dashboard.
“We were only too happy to contribute to this fantastic cause,” said Group Lotus Director of Corporate Operations Gino Rosato. “We have created something very special to raise money for Mercury Phoenix Trust and we hope the car goes to a collector who really enjoys it.”

The Carabinieri in Rome and Milan will now be enjoying their daily patrols in sporty new Lotus Evora S police cars. Specially modified for the po-po in Italy, the Evora S fleet will feature new-age voice recognition technology, and a special portable refrigeration compartment for the transport of vital organs and blood for medical emergencies. Powered by Toyota‘s supercharged 3.5L V6, the Evora S will pack 350-hp and more than 300 lb-ft of torque to handle almost any high speed chase.
Those on the force who will be fortunate enough to pilot these Evora S models have already received special training at a new test track at Lotus’ headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk. There, they learned all about the potential of the Evora S model.

Much of the excitement surrounding the Lotus brand as of late has been about ultra-expensive future models, but Lotus also has a fair share of excellent performance machines on offer right now. Included in that list are two new additions, the Evora S and Evora IPS, which will make their North American debut at the 2011 NY Auto Show, introduced by none other than Bob Lutz.
Since departing General Motors, Lutz has been picked up by Lotus as a part of its team of global advisors to help create the right products to achieve success.
As for the vehicles themselves, the Evora IPS (Intelligent Precision Shift) is essentially an automatic transmission version of the standard model, which sounds rather unexciting, except for the fact that it’s likely to double sales of the sports car. As for the Evora S, it gets a supercharged V6 for raising horsepower from 276 to 345-hp.
In addition Lotus will make an announcement regarding its IndyCar program.
