Ford is doing a little turn on the catwalk â€“ the automaker is showing off how its car parts can also be used as a fashionable ensemble.
Part of a celebratory month-long event celebrating 100 years of Ford in Britain, the company commissioned cool and stylish fashion items including a dress and necklace made out of Ford car parts. The pieces for this fashion shoot were designed by Scottish Designer of the Year nominee Judy Clark (who worked with the late Alexander McQueen) and jewellery designer Katherine Hawkins.
â€śMy reaction when they approached me was one of delight to be a part of such a unique project as itâ€™s very different to what I normally do,â€ť said Clark . â€śI would say that the inspiration for the dress was taken from the Edwardian period and I actually started to design the dress before the car parts arrived.â€ť
The necklace designed by Hawkins was inspired by the iconic movie Metropolis. “When the box of car parts arrived, I didn’t really know what to expect,â€ť said Hawkins. â€śIt doesn’t help that I can’t actually drive so at first I didn’t know what the parts were for! But once I got them spread out to see how they look and sit and how I could work with them, the idea came very quickly and I was able to use really cool metals, plastics and rubbery bits!”

Men’s lifestyle and fashion magazine Esquire has announced the Kia Optima as the “Most Gorgeous Car Under $20K.” Editors were especially impressed by the South Korean automaker’s “clean and inspiring” design. Moreover, numerous other automotive publications have made positive comparisons of its exterior to the more upscale Audi.

More than just a pretty face, the 2011 Optima is available with luxury and technology including a satnav/audio system with Sirius XM radio and live traffic, Bluetooth capability, USB and auxiliary input, and steering wheel integrated voice controls.
The Optima is available with an economic 2.4 liter four cylinder producing 200 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque or a turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder producing 274 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the Optima Hybrid provides the 2.4 liter combined with an electric motor, combining for 206 hp and 193 lb-ft of torque. Prices begin at $19,200.
