As expected, the Fiat 500 Abarth Cabriolet will be making its North American debut at the upcoming 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Rumors are heating up all over the Internet (when are they not) that Ferrari is possibly working on a limited edition 599 Fernando Alonso edition to pay tribute to their star Formula One driver.
Ferrari’s 599 has had plenty of special edition variants, ranging from the GTB Fiorano to the China Edition to the awesome 599XX. But it looks like the 599 will go out with a bang with a 599 Fernando Alonso edition, rumored to be lighter than any of the previous models, possibly making it the fastest.
Rumor has it that this lightweight special edition 599 is set to be released in January with a very limited production of just 40 vehicles. But this could all just be rumors started by the fact that Ferrari released a video of Fernando Alonso taking a F10 Tribute Edition 599 GTO for some laps around Fiorano. We’ll just have to stay tuned to see whether or not this is another Internet myth.
Check out the video of Alonso behind the wheel of the F10 Tribute Edition 599 GTO after the break.

Some boys never outgrow their toys… and for those kids who refuse to grow up, there’s the Carrera Slot Car Race Set.
Since 1963, Carrera has been one of the world’s most prestigious slot-car makers, and this newest offering is sure to have kids of all ages excited. Your cars will fly around the 29 1/2′ track that comes with plenty of challenges that will test your racing skills, including two loops, two lane changes, a flyover, and a 180º high-banked curve. And because it’s made from durable ABS plastic, it will be able to stand up to years of intense racing.
The Carrera Slot Car Race set comes with two detailed 1:43 Formula One Ferrari cars (inspired by F1 drivers Fernando Alonso’s and Felipe Massa’s cars), and these cars use a specially designed double-contact brush to ensure a secure connection to the track for consistent control during a race. When you’re flying around the track and you feel the need for more speed, each handheld control comes with a boost button for 25% more power. To keep you honest, the set also comes with an automatic lap counter.
You can buy the Carrera Slot Car Race Set for $99.95… and please be sure to share turns with your kids.

We went to crafts camp, swimming camp, get eaten alive by bugs camp… back in the old days, we had it rough. Not like kids today – they get the chance to go to Ferrari camp.
Ok, so not all kids get that chance – only the ones live near Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello. It’s the greatest place ever to work, because that office has everything: a full village for employees complete with a gym, restaurant and a bar. And now, it has a day camp for kids… but if we worked there, we would totally play hooky for the day and see if we could blend in with the rest of the campers.
Recently, those lucky kids got a special treat – Ferrari’s chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo stopped by, along with guests Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa and a few others. Watch the video after the jump and once it’s finished, go complain to your kids how good they have it.
